Dettifoss Waterfall

Drive towards the mighty Dettifoss, Europe's most powerful waterfall.

Experience the raw force of nature as you stand by the roaring cascades. Explore both sides of the canyon if time permits (access can vary by road condition).

Be prepared for spray from the waterfall. The road to the east side (Route 864) can be rough and might close in early autumn depending on weather; Route 862 to the west side is usually better maintained. Check road conditions before you go.

Námaskarð Geothermal Area
