Shirakawa-go Panoramic Views

Take the shuttle bus up to the Shiroyama Tenshukaku Observation Deck for breathtaking panoramic views of the entire Shirakawa-go village with its distinctive Gassho-zukuri farmhouses, especially magical when covered in snow.

The shuttle bus (paid) departs frequently from near the main bus stop. Alternatively, a walking path is available, but may be snowy and slippery in February. Dress warmly!

Quick Local Lunch

Grab a quick and casual lunch from one of the many small eateries or street food stalls in the village. Try local specialties like Hida beef skewers, Gohei Mochi, or warm soba/udon noodles to combat the February chill.

Many small shops offer delicious and affordable local snacks and simple meals. Look for places near the main areas of the village.

Explore Wada House

Visit the Wada House, one of Shirakawa-go's largest and oldest Gassho-zukuri farmhouses, now open to the public.

Entrance fee applies. Photography is usually allowed inside, but check for specific restrictions. The interior is fascinating and well-preserved.

Discover smaller Gassho-zukuri houses, visit Hatotani Hachiman Shrine, and browse local souvenir shops.

Wear comfortable, waterproof shoes suitable for walking in snow or slush. Be mindful of slippery surfaces. Don't forget to take plenty of photos of the beautiful snow-covered scenery!
