<p>Based in Los Angeles since 2018, <strong>Jess Cornelius</strong> was born and raised in New Zealand before moving to Melbourne, Australia, where she released three critically acclaimed albums as Teeth & Tongue. After relocating to the US, she started releasing albums under her own name. 2020’s <em>Distance</em> gained attention across the US, Australia, and the UK, with <em>Pitchfork</em> calling her ‘funny, self-effacing, and honest’ and <em>The Guardian </em>praising the album’s combination of ‘delicate folk and 70s jam band Americana with flashes of 80s pop-blues and Californian grunge.’ Her 2024 follow-up, CARE/TAKING, saw her record live sets for KEXP Seattle (who called it ‘a stunning display of expressive indie rock’) and NPR’s World Café, and was named Feature Album on Double J Australia and Album of the Week on Melbourne’s 3RRR FM. </p><p><br></p><p>Guided by the dramatic leaps of her dusky voice, Cornelius sings of personal upheaval with striking lucidity and emotional nimbleness, trying to square global crises and insecurities with the transformations and responsibilities in her own life. He has shared the bill with musical acts ranging from Faith No More to Micky Dolenz, and with such comedic legends as Robin Williams and Eric Idle. Harrowing festival appearances include the Reading Festival in the UK, Coachella in the USA, and The Big Day Out across Australia as the invited guest of Frenzal Rhomb.
