Friday, December 5th at Lucky Bar Victoria BC Ska & Reggae Society is proud to present our last show of 2025 with longtime friends Mindil Beach who will return to perform in Victoria for the first time in over 10 years. Theyll be joined by their longtime friends Deep Sea Gypsies and Ska & Reggae Society alumni Blackwood Kings. The saying Better Late than Never in Mindil Beachs situation would be better categorized as never say never. Thats because Mindil Beach (formerly Mindil Beach Markets) have been on quite a roller coaster ride during their run as an active band. With their late great beloved leader Daniel Kingbury the band toured throughout BC and other parts of Canada. They were actively promoting environmental stewardship in schools throughout BC with their Jellyfish Project and they headlined and played as support on big shows and festivals throughout Western Canada (including Victoria Ska Vol III and will finally perform the material they invested their energy into a decade ago. For those of you that are new to Mindil Beach they have a west coast sound that mixes a bit of rock, folk, funk, hip hop and reggae. Deep Sea Gypsies who will be playing just before Mindil Beach describe themselves as a combination of 60s psych blues rock and 70s southern rock mixed with elements of funk and soul. Their influences include the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters and more. And finally for the Island ska/reggae faithful we have Blackwood Kings. Blackwood Kings have been playing for almost a decade and a half in our scene. Their last appearance was at Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival opening for Jakobs Castle (ft. Jakob Nowell of Sublime), Long Beach Dub All Stars and Mad Professor. They will be coming to bring us their signature brand of ska and reggae straight-up. Doors are 7pm/ Curfew is 11pm. Advance tickets available on Ticketweb.ca and Hoyne Brewing Company. Get tickets as fast as you can because were expecting this one to sell out.

Journey back in time at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum, a volunteer-run museum and restoration project located in Fairfield. On Saturdays at 2PM, walk down the path past heritage apple trees and beautiful gardens and step into one of only a few 1860s houses still standing in Victoria. From the bright and airy drawing room to the charming children’s bedroom, the house has been restored with extraordinary care to appear as it did when the Roscoe family called it home. Built in 1865, the Gothic Revival Ross Bay Villa was built for Victoria businessman Francis Roscoe and his wife, Anna Letitia Roscoe. Located far away from the bustling streets of the upstart gold rush town and a short distance from the beach at Ross Bay, the property offered a bucolic country idyll for the Roscoes’ and their growing family. Admission is $7.50 plus tax per person. Tours must be booked ahead of time. All funds support the volunteer-based Ross Bay Villa Society which owns and operates Ross Bay Villa. Drop in a little early for your Saturday tour for our Ross Bay Villa Gift Shop and Book Nook. This unique vintage store has handcrafted items made by volunteers, plus everything from clothing and books to fine china and unexpected treasures. Stop by between 10-2 and find something special! Please note, donations of smaller, gently used household items are gratefully accepted.
