Indoor Pirate Play

Dive into the exciting world of La Baie des Pirates / Royal Kids, an indoor play park with a pirate theme. They are hosting a Carnaval event from February 7-22, 2026, offering a totally covered, secure, and heated play area of 1300m² for children aged 0 to 12. Kids can enjoy trampolines, slides, zip lines, ball pits, and giant Lego.

Ideal for children 0-12 years old. Specific areas for different age groups (under 3, 3-5, 5-12). Expect to spend 2-3 hours. Snack bar and seating for parents available.

Cinema & Miniature

Explore the unique Musée Cinéma et Miniature, housed in a 15th-century UNESCO World Heritage building.

Discover over 100 miniature scenes by talented artists and thousands of original film props, costumes, and special effects items from famous movies. Children will be fascinated by the magic behind the silver screen.

Bellecour Ferris Wheel

Many 'bouchons' (traditional Lyonnaise restaurants) welcome kids, especially if you go early. Alternatively, grab some local delights from a market for a picnic at your accommodation.

Roman History Exploration

Step back in time at the Lugdunum Museum (Gallo-Roman Museum) and the adjacent Ancient Roman Theatres.

Explore the remarkably preserved ruins, where ancient plays once took place. The museum offers interactive exhibits, and children can even dress up in a dedicated play area. Entry to the museum is free for children under 18 on the first Sunday of every month, and February 22, 2026, falls on a Sunday.

Museum best for older kids (4+), but the Roman Theatres are great for all ages to explore. Allow 2-3 hours. Stroller-friendly within the museum, but the outdoor theatre area has steps.

Farmers Market Visit

Experience a vibrant local market at Marché Saint-Antoine Célestins, situated along the Saône River.

This large food market offers a delightful selection of fresh produce, cheeses, local specialties, and prepared foods. It's a great place to pick up picnic items or grab a quick, authentic French lunch.

Library Fun

Conclude your weekend with a relaxing visit to the Lyon Part-Dieu Municipal Library, one of the largest public libraries in Europe.

It boasts a large and welcoming children's area with books, games, and activities. Children up to 17 years old can get a free membership and access services, making it a perfect spot for quiet play and reading.
