Join us for the London, UK premiere of 'Fortescue'. As a playwright enlists her boyfriend and best friend to stage a play for their neighbours, she experiences a frightening psychosis that dramatizes her struggles with mental health and the pains of performing womanhood for men. Saturday September 27 2025 6:30PM - Screening Begins Castle Cinemas First Floor 64 - 66 Brookby's Walk London, UK A highly nuanced and frequently wrenching exploration of the complexities of female friendship, the poisoned perspective of the male gaze, the stigmatization of illness, and how all those themes (and more) might inform the inherently messy artistic process, Fortescue is an ambitious and often remarkable feature directorial debut that heralds promising things from one of this country’s most passionate and dedicated emerging storytellers. - Barry Hertz, Arts Editor at the Globe and Mail, Canada's largest newspaper Best friends since college, Lea (Kelsey Falconer) and Gabby (Chelsea Preston) enjoy a blissful cottage vacation. When Lea’s boyfriend (Tyson Coady) arrives, and the three prepare to put on a reimagined production of ‘Rapunzel’ for the neighbouring cottagers, tensions begin to rise between the group as they discuss artistry, privilege, and ideas of womanhood. As the group gears up for their performance, Lea gradually descends into a psychosis that exposes the struggles of being expected to live up to an outdated standard of womanhood.Fortescue is an honest and vivid portrayal of the dynamics at play within female friendships, within the relationships between women and men, and mental health struggles. Through its characters and their relationships with one another and with themselves, the film draws fascinating and thought-provoking connections between theatrical performance, psychosis, and the female impulse to perform for men. Trigger Warning: This film contains scenes of sexual and domestic violence. Starring Kelsey Falconer Chelsea Preston Tyson Coady Nickolas Franco Jacqueline Greer Graham Kaitlyn Chalmers Rizzato Written and Directed by Rebeccah Love Produced by Rebeccah Love and Tara Natalia TICKETS Please select the ticket tier that works best for you.
