How Much Are You Worth? - A webinar for freelancing AVT professionals on the topics of negotiation tactics, financial literacy and best practices Tina and Ekaterina have been speaking on these topics to university students for years, and would finally like to do a webinar specifically tailored to AVT professionals who have already worked in the business for some time. The AVT freelancing world can feel complicated and isolating, especially when it comes to the practical and financial side of things, even for veterans, in an ever-changing technological landscape. They will present a variety of practical advice for how best to stay on top of the administrative side of things, how to speak to and negotiate with current and potential clients, and give some thoughts on how they personally navigate it all. About the speaker: Tina Shortland has 30 years of experience as an audiovisual translator, working both in-house and as a freelancer. She has extensive experience in translation, subtitling, QC and working as a Language Lead within AVT, in addition to teaching, being an online course coordinator, interpreter and tutor. Tina is the Vice President of NAViO and a member of the AVTE council. Ekaterina Pliassova has been working as an audiovisual translator since 2012, with extensive experience in translating, subtitling and QC work for a large variety of broadcasting channels and streaming platforms, as well as working as a Language Lead in AVT. Ekaterina is a committee member of Subtle and a member of NAViO. This webinar is free of charge for SUBTLE members and has a cost of £15 for non-members. The recording will be made available for all SUBTLE members after the event, and it will also be shared with non-members who registered. Ticket sales end at 23:59 GMT on the 10th February.
