These courses meet the Local Law 196 training requirements as part of a Site Safety Training (SST) card. You will need a device (laptop, tablet, or smartphone)with good internet connection and working camera/video and audio to attend anyNYST virtual online class. If at all possible, use a laptop instead of a smartphone, so you will have a much better virtual classroom experience. You will also need to send a scan or photo of the front and back of your valid OSHA 30 card and an official Government or State photo ID of yourself to Admin@NYSafetyandTraining.com. In the subject line of your email, include your name and the name and date of class you will be attending (for example: "Joe Smith ID for Sept 22 SST") NYST ONLINE CLASSES COURSE POLICY Thank you for choosing NYST for your online training. In an effort to ensure the most effective learning experience and to best adhere to the training requirements of OSHA, DOB, and/or FDNY, New York Safety and Training kindly requires all students to adhere to the following requirements for online training. To register for class, you must complete the NYST Class Registration Google Form that will be emailed to you before class begins. You must be in front of a device (laptop, tablet, or smart phone) for the entire time class is in session. Please select the best available learning environment at your location; if possible, avoid being in a common room with family members who may distract you from your class material. You must have reliable internet connection. If you are bumped from the online classroom because you lose your internet and you are not immediately able to rejoin the online classroom, you will be marked absent for the day. You must be dressed in appropriate clothes for class. No underwear attire, no offensive sayings or logos on clothes, and no nudity (everyone must be wearing a shirt) No multi-tasking while class is in session. For example, no opening your mail, cleaning your desk, playing a video game, checking Instagram, or cooking, etc while class is in session. You must be in 1 location for the training. Even though your chosen device may be mobile, course policy requires you to remain in 1 location for your class. You can not travel and walk around with your device while class is in session (you are free to change locations during class break, as long as you can be settled in your new location before class resumes) No walking away while class is in session. If you need a drink or need to use the bathroom, you will need to wait until the next class break. Online classes will have at least a 10-minute break every hour. It is a good idea to keep a drink and a snack within arm’s reach while class is in session. No sleeping during class. You must be seated or standing and visible in front of your camera. No laying down, whether on a couch, your bed, or anything else, while class is in session Chat function is only for questions to the instructor. No side comments or discussions on the chat. Streaming video through Google Hangouts Meet will drain your battery. Your device must be plugged in during class. If your device runs out of power and you lose connection to our online classroom, you will be marked absent for the day. There is no partial attendance on any day. You are either present, in front of your device’s camera, for the entire time that class is in session that day, or you are marked absent and get no credit for the entire day. For classes that are multiple days in length, you must attend each day in the correct order. If you miss a day, you can not continue in that class; for example, if you miss day 3 of our 5-day OSHA 30, you cannot attend days 4 and 5 of that class. You are welcome to continue in a future class within 60 days, but there will be a $50 make-up fee to do so. Toward the beginning of your NYST online class, you will be required to sign in by completing an NYST Attendance Google Sheet on your device. The class instructor and / or class admin will give instructions. If you fail to sign in by completing the form, you will be considered absent. Certain classes require an exam or quiz at the end of class. If your class is such a class, you will be required to complete your exam or quiz on your device via a Google Form. If you are unable to follow these course policies, NYST reserves the right to remove you from class and invite you to attend the class at a future date when you will be able to follow these policies. Thank you, and have a great class.
