Chahar Shanbeh Soori is a cherished Iranian tradition held on the last Tuesday night before Nowruz, the Persian New Year. It marks a transition, a release of hardship, and a collective step toward renewal. On this night, communities gather together outdoors, light fires, and jump over the flmaes while saying "zardi-ye man az to, sorkhi-ye to az man," which translates to "my yellowness is yours, and your redness is mine." The "yellowness" represents exhaustion, illness, and the burdens of the past year. The "redness" symbolizes warmth, strength, vitality, and hope. In passing over the fire, we symbolically leave behind what weighs on us and carry forward resilience into the new year in solidarity and support for the people of Iran. This year, our gathering will center connection and intention. Rather than a dance floor or late-nate celebration, we will share space with one another through conversation, warmth, and community. Chahar Shanbeh Soori is about standing together, honoring tradition, and entering the new year with courage and intention. Please fill out the wavier form in order to participate in this event. https://forms.gle/Zj9bxmtrAGmXCNdp9 Accessibility and Community Support In recognition of the current circumstances impacting our community, we have intentionally and significantly reduced ticket prices this year and cut costs wherever possible to ensure this gathering remains accessible and respectful. At the same time, hosting an event of this scale involves significant expenses that are only sustainable through the support of our community. If you are able, we invite you to consider contributing beyond the cost of admission. Your support directly makes this gathering possible and allows us to continue creating meaningful spaces for connection, culture, and community. Donations may be made via Venmo @Artinazarpak or by selecting the donation option when purchasing your ticket. If you are interested in being a sponsor, please contact: umdisf@gmail.com As we gather, we do so with reflection, unity, and hope, carrying our community forward together.
