Set against the tranquil backdrop of rural Ireland in 1981, the film follows a reserved young girl sent to live with distant relatives for the summer. As she settles into her new surroundings, she discovers unexpected warmth, care, and a sense of belonging—while slowly uncovering a family secret that will shape her understanding of love and loss. Directed with remarkable subtlety and tenderness, The Quiet Girl is celebrated for its beautiful cinematography, powerful performances, and emotionally resonant storytelling. It has earned global praise for its quiet power and heartfelt depiction of childhood, family, and the spaces in which we learn to feel seen. Hosted by Dr. Vincent Piturro, Film Studies Professor at Metropolitan State University of Denver and writer of the Indie Prof column in the Front Porch newspaper, each Cube Cinema Series screening includes his engaging insights and post-film discussion. Doors open at 6:30pm, movie starts at 7:00pm. Tickets are $10 (plus applicable fees).
