Event Information

Over more than 20 years as a recording artist, the jazz piano phenomenon Hiromi has shifted seamlessly from one spellbinding project to the next. In the process, shes earned a reputation as one of the most explosive live performers in jazz history and a global ambassador for the art form. Her many triumphs include an NPR Tiny Desk Concert that has racked up 2 million views; the opportunity to represent her native Japan with a performance at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo; 2024 winner for Best Music Score for the animated feature film Blue Giant (Award of the Japanese Academy); and a GRAMMY Award for a collaboration with fusion hero Stanley Clarke. Her artistry is to borrow a descriptor the New Yorker favored dazzling. In 2023, she released Sonicwonderland, debuting perhaps the most expressive, dynamic and versatile working band of her career. Called Hiromis Sonicwonder and featuring Hadrien Feraud on bass, Gene Coye on drums and the trumpeter Adam OFarrill, the group furthered Hiromis distinctive musical alchemy: the spirit of classic jazz-rock fusion melded with classically rooted virtuosity, entrancing funk, pop flourishes and, through OFarrills trumpet, acoustic jazzs state of the art.The album also did a remarkable job of capturing Hiromis mastery as a live entertainer. As the Guardian noted, Sonicwonderland is perhaps the closest thing to Hiromis onstage exuberance.

Event Information

Having been known to the world as one of the most dazzling and versatile performers of her generation with a miraculous voice, musical ability and technique, as well as an innate gift for entertaining a crowd (Wall Street Journal), Veronica Swift showed in previous years that she is more than a jazz singer. During the 2023-25 years, Swift and her multi genre band performed for audiences all over the globe seeing a rising demand for her dynamic, electrifying performances. It was in this era that she was also given the honor of Knight in the order of arts and letters from the French Republic. Her debut Mack Avenue award-winning release Confessions (2019) secured her a spot at the podium amongst the greatest jazz singers of her generation. She then demonstrated her flare for conceptual cycles and keen arranging with her 2021 release This Bitter Earth which not only gave a glimpse into her rock influences, but automatically touched up upon some of the harder truths of being a woman. On her most recent 2023 album, simply titled Veronica Swift, she spreads her sonic wings even further exploring a TransGenre concept that includes more expansive range of influences than ever before: French and Italian opera, European classical music, industrial and punk rock, funk, and vaudeville. Swifts recent collaboration with drummer/producer, Brian Viglione (The Dresden Dolls) allowed for her creativity to flourish, and as she continues her artistic journey, she brings this multi-genre experience to you along with the music from her upcoming original project titled DAME. She is joined on stage by Kyle Reinhart (guitar), Alexis Angel (keyboards/guitar), and Jonny Heinz (bass). Visit veronicaswift.com for more information and tickets.

Event Information

This record is all kink and no shame, says Adam Weiner of ART DEALERS, the tough, sexy and tender new album coming from Low Cut Connie. With Low Cut Connie, I try to create a safe space for you to just absolutely get your freak on.For years now, Low Cut Connie has built its grassroots coalition of oddballs, underdogs, and fun-lovingweirdos with songs that celebrate life on the fringes of polite society. The bands infamously wild, passionate live shows provide a total release - of stress, of inhibition, of shame - working up a primordial rock n roll sweat for fans to get blissfully soaked in. The new album, and its full-length companion film, sizzle with that same cathartic sweat, reminding us that its time to get dirty again, and to feel alive. ART DEALERS sits at the intersection of sleazy and soulful - a collection of risky, romantic, life-affirming anthems, all dedicated to you.I think rock n roll exists to be a red-blooded, countercultural medium, says Weiner, who has performed under the Low Cut Connie moniker for over a decade, Youre supposed to get your hair messed-up. That imperative comes through in the adults-only tone of songs like the opening Tell Me Something I Dont Know, a sinuous, lurid rocker that sounds like walking through depraved Times Square in 1978 - neon-lit and nasty with a snapping beat. The speedy, fuzzed-up garage-rocker Whips and Chains calls out Trump and the current wave of neo-fascism, without ever losing its boogie rhythm section. But theres also tenderness behind the curtain here, as on the yearning first single Are You Gonna Run? and Call Out My Name, which evoke the sweet sad love that punky boys like the New York Dolls and the Ramones used to have for tough girls like the Ronettes and the Shangri-Las.

Event Information

After crisscrossing the nation for the last half-decade looking for a home, Pokey LaFarge found himself in Mid-Coast Maine. Upon arriving, the Illinois-born singer/songwriter/actor pursued a major life change, working 12-hour days on a local farma turn of events that catalyzed an extraordinary burst of creativity and redefined his sense of purpose as an artist. On his new album Rhumba Country, LaFarge reveals his newly heightened devotion to making music that channels pure joy. There was a time when I glorified sadness because I lost sight of who I was, but now I understand that creating and expressing joy is my gift, and gifts are meant to be shared, he says. Reclaiming his voice, LaFarge has recorded his boldest album yet. Rhumba Country was initially shaped from material that emerged while LaFarge was deep in work on the farm. Id be pushing a plow or scattering seeds, and the songs would just come to me, he recalls. It was tremendously inspirational and made me realize that apart from singing, farming is perhaps the oldest human art form. But as he moved forward with his songwriting, something felt undeniably amiss. LaFarge then spoke with fellow Midwestern transplant Elliot Bergman (Wild Belle), who suggested he return to city life in Los Angeles for a season so that the two musicians could work togethera collaboration that soon brought the rhumba to LaFarges country. As he immersed himself in the albums creation, LaFarge began dreaming up a kaleidoscopic sound informed by his love of music from far-ranging eras and corners of the globe, including mambo, tropiclia, rocksteady, and mid-century American rock-and-roll. Co-produced along with Chris Seefried and Bergman and recorded in L.A., the resulting Rhumba Country is an invitation to come together to celebrate life and love. The songs that naturally come to me are upbeat and make you wanna dance or at least bop your headtheyre all very colorful, says LaFarge. I used to think of my music in dark blue, but now I see it in technicolor. On the album-opening One You, One Me, LaFarge offers a retreat into the charmed and rhapsodic world of Rhumba Country, sharing a breezy love song rendered with radiant simplicity. The same way Picasso worked his whole life to paint like a child, Ive been more focused on simplifying my music over the years, he says. The fewer the chord movements and simpler the lyrics, the clearer the message. Its about trying to get to the point where the songs are almost like prayers.

Event Information

GoGo Penguin, the Manchester trio who inspirationally blend jazz, classical and electronic influences, return with a powerful new album, Necessary Fictions, which finds pianist, Chris Illingworth; bassist, Nick Blacka; and drummer, Jon Scott digging deep internally to reach what we think are our integral, authentic qualities at this moment in time. Its a powerful driver for some of their boldest music to date, incorporating modular synths, Moog Grandmother, and electric bass into their sound more than ever before as they glide spectacularly from acoustic instrumentation into electronica with drums to the fore. Honest and powerful, Necessary Fictions is the band at their very best.GoGo Penguin are: Chris Illingworth, piano, Nick Blacka, bass & Jon Scott drums
