Are You Experienced?

Sat, Mar 7 at 7:30 PM
Hertford Corn Exchange

Event Information

Are You Experienced? The Jimi Hendrix Tribute. Are You Experienced? are now in their 25th year together, and in that time have firmly established themselves as the premier Hendrix tribute in Europe, having headlined festivals in Brazil, Barbados and Rhodes, as well as appearing at in Holland, Germany and Sweden. Founder member John Campbell has also appeared on TV shows in his Hendrix persona and bears more than a passing resemblance to the iconic guitarist. The band were joined by Phil Carter on drums in late 2019. Unfortunate timing, as we all know 2020 and most of 2021 was not a good time for live music. Phil came to the band highly recommended and it’s easy to see why. A long time Hendrix fan, he has brought a fresh energy to the band. In 2014, Jimi Hendrix’s younger brother came over to the UK for a series of gigs. John Campbell was picked out to play with his band, and during that time they became friends, and when Leon came over for his Jimi Hendrix Golden Anniversary tour in September 2016 he invited John Campbell and the rest of Are You Experienced? to join him as his band for the tour. In 2018 the band appeared yet again on Leon’s latest theatre tour of the UK. More recently Are You Experienced? opened The Isle of Wight Festival 2021 to mark the 50 year anniversary of Jimi Hendrix appearing there. (Albeit, a year late due to Government restrictions!) Are You Experienced? enjoy bringing the music of Hendrix to a new and eager audience as well as those that remember him the first time around. Darren Redick - Planet Rock DJ  “Wow...just WOW!” Keith Altham – PR to the stars “John has the whole Jimi vibe going”

Strange Doors

Strange Doors

Sat, Mar 21 at 7:30 PM
Hertford Corn Exchange

Event Information

The Strange Doors are the UK’s most authentic tribute to the legendary American band The Doors. They’ve been thrilling audiences since 2010 with their note for note recreations of The Doors’ unique rock music and seeing them perform is as close as you can get to a concert by the real Doors. They have played all over the UK, including a headline slot at Festwich (the UK’s biggest free music festival), toured France as part of Doors’ late lead singer Jim Morrison’s seventieth birthday celebration, and even had the honour of performing with musician Jerry Scheff who played bass on the Doors’ classic album L.A. Woman.  At a Strange Doors performance audiences will experience ad-libbed poetry, a singer that jumps into the air and writhes on the floor (whilst conjuring the Lizard King with his rich baritone voice), those crisp organ sounds of Ray Manzarek cutting through the air with beautiful precision, bluesy slide guitar and powerful, yet subtle drumming that punctuates the music and vocals.  The music of The Doors continues to have the beguiling power to reach into souls in a way no other music can, whether it be the moving intrigue of Riders On The Storm, the expansive energy of L.A. Woman or the sheer exuberance of the out-and-out rock classic, Light My Fire.  The Strange Doors invite audiences to immerse themselves in the vibe, to move to the hypnotic beat and to break on through to the other side.  Their two hour show also includes psychedelic projection that visually enhances the atmosphere.   Is everybody in? The Ceremony is about to begin...

The Blow Monkeys

Fri, Mar 27 at 7:30 PM
Hertford Corn Exchange

Event Information

The Blow Monkeys are unique with a career spanning over 40 years. Always making new music, always stretching their own musical boundaries. With worldwide hits such as the classics ‘Digging Your Scene’ and ‘It Doesn’t Have To Be This Way’, they became household names but there was always so much more going on with these soulful troubadours. Their relentless desire to move forward, to collaborate, to be socially engaged and to have something to contribute. Back in the 80’s they worked with people as varied as Curtis Mayfield, Paul Weller, Cheb Khaled and even Jamaican Toaster EEK-a-Mouse! “No band since The Clash in their early 80’s heyday had attempted to act as a sounding board for such politically engaged, eclectic music”Dr Robert even took time out to release one of the UK’s first homegrown “house”records ‘Wait”’ his top 5 duet with Chicago soul diva Kym Maselle. And so the journey continues. Reformed in 2008 The Blow Monkeys have been incredibly productive releasing nine new albums and playing hundreds of concerts. These Monkeys continue to evolve. From their beginnings on the underground club scene right through to their appearance on the biggest selling soundtrack of all time “Dirty Dancing” (You Don’t Own Me) and beyond. Long may they swing.
