Red Giant

Fri, Feb 6 at 8:00 PM
Backstage at The Green Hotel

Event Information

Lead songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, David Simpson first picked up the guitar at 16 years old.  Since that time David has been a prominent performer in several bands over the years and co-founded Red Giant at the beginning of 2024.  David decided after years of playing in other bands it was time to follow his own musical style.  The music he was writing did not fit the bands he was playing with and he soon setup his own group The Dave Simpson Trio. The trio performed all over the UK for years and was a very established blues rock band, but in 2024 the band wanted a change. Not just in name but in style, opting for a heavier rockier approach to go along with the new songs David was writing.  Red Giant was born. Not long after the name change the band went into the studio to record their self-titled debut album.  David is a world-renowned YouTube presenter with a channel that has amassed over 135,000 subscribers due to his unique playing style and expertise on the instrument. David has been incredibly open about his struggles with mental health and his blunt openness has helped countless others deal with their personal traumas. David’s work ethic is outstanding, tirelessly working on songs and videos while also performing and collaborating with other musicians. John Joe Gaskin, the drummer for Red Giant, also started playing drums at the age of sixteen. As soon as he found the drums he wanted to do nothing else. He’s dedicated his life to the instrument. John Joe is an absolute powerhouse of a drummer with a supernatural sense of time and is the bedrock of the band. Widely known as a dynamic and versatile performer, playing nationwide in the UK and Europe John Joe is comfortable with any style of music. John Joe not only performs his duties as the drummer of Red Giant but is also the joker of the band with his wicked sense of humour he keeps everyone laughing.  The bassist on the album is Carina Powell who despite her compact stature of only 4’11 is an absolute powerhouse on stage and in the studio. Using her bass both as a lead and supporting instrument. Her hard hitting and percussive style are evident all over this album and it blends seamlessly with David’s guitars and John Joe’s drums.

John Verity

John Verity

Sat, Feb 7 at 8:00 PM
Backstage at The Green Hotel

Event Information

John Verity is one of the most consistent performers on the blues rock circuit today, having honed his craft over more than 60 years on the circuit at every level. Born in West Yorkshire he played in many bands in the area and beyond before moving to Florida. While there he opened for Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Mountain and others, then on his return to the UK, taking a somewhat different direction with time as front man with Argent. When Argent disbanded John spent time primarily in the studio, producing, recording and guesting with, among many others, Ringo Starr, The Zombies, Smokie, Charlie, Motorhead and Saxon. Jump forward a few years and John is now back out on the road with his own band and experiencing a musical renaissance. “And it would always have been difficult to follow the next act, the triumphant John Verity Band. Verity is best known for his stint as the frontman of Argent in the 1970s, but that was only a brief interruption in a 50-year solo career.” “You are left under no illusion that you are in the hands of a proper musician and vocalist who would have no problem filling a stadium, packing out any club and bringing a festival audience to their feet. Go see him!”

Atomic Rooster

Sat, Feb 21 at 8:00 PM
Backstage at The Green Hotel

Event Information

Since reforming in 2016, with the blessing of band founder Vincent Crane's widow, ATOMIC ROOSTER , with their early 70's heyday guitar player STEVE 'BOLTZ' BOLTON at the helm the band have gone from strength to strength playing scores of festivals in the UK and Europe and frequently touring to a steadily growing fanbase. Aside from their two 70's UK and USA chart hits, DEVIL'S ANSWER and TOMORROW NIGHT, 'Rooster are also much acclaimed for at least two classic proto-metal-gothic-prog albums in the shape of the legendary 'DEATH WALKS BEHIND YOU' album from 1970 and 'IN THE HEARING OF...' released the following year. Both these albums plus the following 'MADE IN ENGLAND' with Chris Farlowe on vocals and Steve Bolton on guitar (not to mention SPINAL TAP's legendary drummer RICK PARNELL on drums!) have firmly established ATOMIC ROOSTER at the vanguard of British Progressive music. The current line-up draw heavily on these early classics as well as new material from their forthcoming album 'CIRCLE THE SUN' to be released in the Summer of 2024 and debuted live on their July - August European tour. PERSONEL  STEVE 'BOLTZ' BOLTON - Guitar and Vocals - Steve's CV is pretty epic. Successfully auditioning as a teenager for the Atomic Rooster job, following that he played with - in no particular order - Belinda Carlisle, 6'3'', Vampire Bats, Scott Walker, Paul Youngs Royal Family, including playing on and touring behind the 80's mega-hit album NO PARLEZ. He toured the world playing guitar with THE WHO for two years and can claim to have been deafened by JOHN ENTWISTLE'S vast bass rig. He's played with Iggy Pop, Chris Isaak, Lemmy, Bob Dylan, blues legend HUBERT SUMLIN, Richard Strange, he's toured America with John Otway, jammed with Keith Richards and Steve Jordan. He currently plays with his own band DEAD MAN'S CORNER, does many solo shows, is a talented and humourous raconteur and has taught guitar and stagecraft at the School of Rock in London. ADRIAN GAUTREY - Keyboards and Vocals- Adrian is cut from superior cloth to most musicians. A profoundly gifted musician and singer, Adrian is well beyond proficient on keys, guitar and pedal steel. He regularly tours with, among many others, USA blues chanteuse SARI SCHORR, Hollywood A-lister KEIFER SUTHERLAND, Huey Morgan's FUN LOVING CRIMINALS, Liverpool legend PETE WYLIE. Last year he played Hammond and piano on ROBIN TROWER'S most recent album. He plays many, many sessions as well as shows with his own ADRIAN GAUTREY BAND. Since the departure in 2023 of Peter French he has taken over the vocal role in ATOMIC ROOSTER to great effect SHUG SPENCER - Bass. Joined Rooster when they first got back together in 2016. Was in the late DENNY LAINE'S band, played with the NEW AMEN CORNER, worked with world class drummer GED LYNCH ( Peter Gabriel, Goldfrapp, Clannad, Black Grape, Dave Gilmour, Imagined Village and many more. Bass player with the lamented HIDING MAGPIES, FRUITLESS FOREST, THE MIGHTY REVELATORS, THE CHEATING HEARTS and many, many more. PAUL EVERETT -DRUMS - Paul is pretty much Liverpool's busiest drummer - 300 shows a year is nothing to this guy! A professional since leaving school, a resident a Liverpool's uber-famous CAVERN, Paul propels The Mighty ATOMIC ROOSTER with great style and elan.
