STAN the BAND - The legendary North East guitar 4 piece with an uncanny knack for producing “insanely catchy songs which will simultaneously tug at the heartstrings while exercising the brain.” PAUL SINCLAIR They formed in Newcastle at the turn of the millenium and were memorably described at an early appearance as “…like Crowded House on steroids!” Drummer Dave Pipkin pulled together the threads that make up STAN the BAND with singer Colin Burrows, guitarist Dave Kennedy and bass player Rob Tickell. Rumour has it that the band drew inspiration for their name from Newcastle's Stanhope Street, previously home to both Colin and Hank Marvin. The initial suggestion of The Stanhope Street Creatures was subsequently shortened to STAN. The band have released several albums, working along the way with members of Hawkwind and Tygers of Pan Tang. They have supported a diverse range of artists from Brian May (Queen) to Big Country, The Christians and The Zombies and have entertained crowds of literally tens of thousands as a part of the live music along the route of The Great North Run. STAN the BAND made their London debut at London’s famous Hope & Anchor in Islington, quickly followed up by a show at the Rock Garden in Covent Garden. Radio 1’s Sound City selected the band to perform at Newcastle’s Live Theatre in 1998 and in 1999 they were the first band to play a 60s style lunchtime session at Liverpool’s rejuvenated Cavern Club, featured on Granada TV and subsequently followed up with a rather more sweaty late night session accompanied by a large contingent of fellow Geordies. The lads were disappointed not to be joined that night by Peter Green and Jon Mayall who asked to come and jam then didn't show...The same year the band performed live on Tyne Tees TV’s 'At the Live' programme and were selected to play on Newcastle Quayside, firstly at the inaugural Evolution Festival and later as part of the special Millenium edition of Channel 4’s The Tube.

Eric Bell Trio

The new Eric Bell Trio welcomes two new musicians with Phil Smyth on bass, and Matt Hewer on drums. The band will be playing early classic Thin Lizzy tracks from the period of Eric’s time in the band, along with blues classics and songs from his subsequent, highly acclaimed solo albums. In 1969 Eric walked into a bar in Dublin, ordered a pint and settled down to watch a band play. Two of the members of that band were Brian Downey and Phil Lynott. He was knocked out by what he saw and he asked them to form a band with him. Both duly obliged and within weeks Thin Lizzy was born. The three of them worked very hard both in the studio and on the road and three iconic albums were the result. The band also enjoyed hit single success with ‘Whiskey In The Jar’ and ‘The Rocker’. Eric left the band in 1973 for health reasons and forged a solo career, alongside an exciting period playing lead guitar for Jimi Hendrix’s legendary bassist, in The Noel Redding Band.

THE CITY SINNERS PLAY GRAM PARSONS AND EMMYLOU HARRIS (featuring ‘Elite Hotel) THE CITY SINNERS reformed in 2024 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the release of ‘Grievous Angel’, the first official Gram/Emmylou collaboration. It was intended as a one off project, but such was its success, that they have been persuaded to keep the show on the road, which this time features all of Emmylou’s 1976 album ‘ELITE HOTEL’, in addition to a selection of songs associated with both Gram and Emmylou. The band is fronted by critically acclaimed singer/songwriters JOHN HINSHELWOOD and LOUISE McATEE. Guitarist IAIN BARBOUR is an in-demand session player, with Jason Ringenberg and Jim Lauderdale among his collaborators, and MALCOLM McMASTER is one of Scotland’s top pedal steel players, having worked with Laura Cantrell, Chip Taylor, and Martin Stephenson. Bass player DAVID McKEE, is currently with The Wynntown Marshals, one of Scotland’s premier Americana outfits, and drummer FRANK McHUGH has toured extensively throughout the USA and Europe, including a stint with Big Sur, whose ‘Please Stay’ was a Radio One single of the week.

Dan Owen
Event Information
Known for his arresting, husky vocals and gritty, blues-infused pop/rock, Dan Owen is a British alternative singer/songwriter from Shropshire, England. Owen became interested in music at an early age, taking up guitar at nine years old and performing with his sister, who had taken up singing. Their Dad encouraged them to perform at open-mike events at local pubs throughout their teens. After his sister left for University, Owen took to performing solo and began appearing at live events at various pubs and clubs throughout the area surrounding Shropshire. Performing under the name “Bluesboy Dan”, he gradually earned a committed fan base with his passionate versions of songs by artists such as Robert Johnson and John Lee Hooker while also focusing on writing his own material. In 2012 an online video of the young guitarist performing Bob Dylan’s “The Ballad of Hollis Brown” began to generate widespread attention. After a couple more years of relentless performing in which he began to include his own songs, he was signed to Atlantic Records in 2015 and put out his debut EP, Bad for Me, later that year. In 2016 he put out his second EP, Open Hands & Enemies, before a European tour with Birdy as support act. He then spent 2017 writing and recording his debut full-length effort. The album — titled Stay Awake with Me — arrived in August 2018. Owen promoted the record with a U.K. and European tour that fall. Dan has toured UK and Europe with the likes of Kaleo, Alice Merton, Tall Heights, Seafret, 2 tours with Birdy, a full US tour with Blanco White, other supports from Manfred Man, Valarie Dune, Paul Jones, Brian Adams and our very own Wille and the Bandits. The second album from the Shrewsbury troubadour landed on Nov 24th. The Willow Tree is Dan Owen’s most honest and real music to date. It contains cuts from songwriter royalty – the late, great Scott English and incredible guitar playing from Canadian master Ariel Posen. Quote from Dan about the album: “This is the album I’ve always wanted to make. From every word sung, every note played and even the unplanned dog barking in the background of Call Out, they’re all moments I’ll always remember.”

The Kinks Experience

The Kinks are one of the most important and influential bands of all time. With a rich and diverse range of song writing from Ray Davies and his brother Dave, the band set a standard throughout the 60’s 70’s and 80’s with hard edged rock ‘n’ roll, outstanding melodies and razor- sharp lyrics. The Kinks Experience is dedicated to recreating the unique sound of the Kinks. Made up of experienced musicians from bands previously promoting original material, they formed in June of 2015 at Berkeley 2 rehearsal studios in Glasgow. Founded by bass player and life-long Kinks fan Alan Drover, ex Skelter and guitarist Peter McClurg, ex The Rhymes and Skelter. Together they had considered the idea of forming a Kinks tribute band for many years. But the right line-up was proving hard to find. The main challenge was finding a Ray Davies. Then Peter met Rikki McKay ex- Blackberry Jack and Kinks fan and a plan was hatched to rehearse 3 songs at Berkeley Studios. That first rehearsal was so successful and the chemistry so explosive that the band were playing their debut sell-out show in Ayr that August as The Kinks Experience. Drummer Tommy Clark The Seventh Sons & The Standards with keyboard player Arnie Burgoyne -former Echo and the Bunnymen- completing the line-up. After several guitarist changes the band have now found their Dave with Alec McGrory picking up his flying V and joining the band. Since then the band have gone on to become one of the most musically and visually accurate Kinks tribute acts in the UK playing to great reviews at venues like the The Cavern Liverpool, Yarmageddon Legends of Rock festival, Rock The Mote Tribute Festival, Glasgow Barrowlands & Glastonbarry Tribute Festival to name just a few and recently performed on the Flower Power Cruise in Miami.
