Live/Wire - The AC/DC Show

Fri, Jan 9 at 7:30 PM
Brudenell Social Club

Event Information

JFK aka 'Live in Leeds' presents… 14+ (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult) Live/Wire is The AC/DC Show. The hugely successful tribute to rock music’s greatest band AC/DC, complete with cannons, a wall of Marshalls’ and over two hours of High Voltage Rock ‘n’ Roll in a show critically acclaimed for its closeness in look and sound to the real thing. Originally fronting AC/DC was legendary front man Bon Scott, a wild man of rock and roll, whose untimely death shocked the World in 1980. This event came at a time when the Band were sampling global success for the first time. AC/DC turned to Brian Johnson in order to fill the void left by Bon. Brian’s searing vocals iced Back in Black, one of the best-selling rock albums of all time! Podge Blacksmith, a double take for Brian, gives a vocal masterclass which is un-paralleled and brings it bang up to date with more classic tracks right up to AC/DC’s hugely successful recent album, Rock or Bust. The thundering freight train of a rhythm section keeps it all meticulously together with Dan as the metronomic Malcolm Young on rhythm guitar, Ed appears as the mercurial Cliff Williams on Bass Guitar, Paul sits behind the kit as Phil Rudd and Chris Slade rolled into one. With the Rhythm section ‘locked in’ the freedom of the stage and the music is given to Simon as Angus Young who delivers an uncanny performance with meticulous detail in appearance, energy and his note for note heartfelt renditions song after song. Simon honed his craft over many years and is a livewire during his two-hour plus Axe fettling duck-walking extravaganza of bedevilled Rock and Roll. The band aim to put you slap bang in the middle of the show with hit after hit, and you are expected to join in ! There’ll also be one or two gems thrown in for the aficionados! We’d be hung, drawn and quartered if we didn’t play all the classics, Back in Black, Rosie, Highway to hell are all there, and the songs keep on coming until the cannons fire ceremoniously to bring the evening to a superb crescendo. If by this time you are still standing…we salute you! Long Live AC/DC, Long Live LIVE/WIRE.

The Sensational Alex Harvey Experience

The Sensational Alex Harvey Experience

Thu, Jan 15 at 7:30 PM
Brudenell Social Club

Event Information

JFK aka 'Live in Leeds' Presents... Since forming 10 years ago as a ‘Sensational’ tribute to Scotland’s finest, one-of-a-kind rock sons and his band, the Sensational Alex Harvey Experience (SAHE) have grown to become one of the most respected tribute bands on the circuit. They are described as "the best SAHB tribute band out there", by Zal Cleminson himself. 2025 is an anniversary for the band which coincides with the 50 year anniversary of the release of the legendary SAHB 'Live' album. SAHE will play all songs from the album as part of their 2025 set. They also have the nod from kin of the late, great and sadly missed Alex Harvey (“My dad would have approved" -Alex Harvey Jr.), which is another pointer to the combined talents of vocalist Andy Massie, keyboardist David Cowan, guitarist Rob Jones, bass player Nelson McFarlane and drummer Chris Killen. (Cowan and McFarlane also recorded and toured as members of Zal Cleminson's /Sin Dogs/). Original SAHB bass player (Chris Glen) has also shared the stage with SAHE and said "they are the best SAHB since SAHB!" The band has almost 7k followers on their Facebook page and played in venues the length and breadth of the UK. In 2025/26 the band aims to visit areas where they have not yet appeared e.g. North West of England, Wales, London and Northern Ireland. Those who have seen the band live will attest to their musicality and theatricality. This is a party band (with a hint of menace!). Also, the band has released versions of SAHB songs (fully licensed from Universal) including a 2024 Xmas Single and video (Spotify and YouTube links on the next page). The songs have been given rightful and respectful nods to SAHB originals whilst adding a modern, contemporary-edged twist to each classic. An SAHE album and live DVD will be released later in 2025. Recording and releasing new licensed versions of classic numbers is an innovative approach for a tribute band but one that has been welcomed by SAHB aficionados of old, and new fans picked up 'on the road.’ But then, the Sensational Alex Harvey Experience are first and foremost SAHB fans themselves, dedicated to keeping both the music, and the theatrics, alive. Hopefully, in 2025 and beyond the band will venture even further afield. The Sensational Alex Harvey Experience has already toured extensively throughout the UK to great receptions and are regular headliners at the annual SAHBROCK Charity event in Glasgow which benefits the Glasgow Sick Children’s Hospital. The band has also played at various other festivals e.g. Cropredy /Brasenose, The Tyneside Americana Festival, The Arran Festival, The Mad Hatters Festival and Crookfest. Numerous Gigs have been played throughout the UK in e.g. Darlington, Kingston-Upon-Hull, Gravesend, Torquay, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Galashiels, Leeds, Barnsley, Sheffield, Dundee, Carlisle etc etc
