Jack Blocker is an Americana singer-songwriter whose music is rooted in sincerity, storytelling, and a deep love for his home state of Texas. Drawing inspiration from Texan legends like Townes Van Zandt, Willie Nelson, and Kris Kristofferson, Blocker describes his music as friendly, honest, and Texan a reflection of both his lyrical style and the atmosphere of his live shows. Whether hes jumping around on stage with a full band or singing solo with just an acoustic guitar, Blockers performances are captivating and compelling. My goal is to give some new life to each song that only exists in that moment, he says. One particularly memorable show in Nashville was performed completely unplugged after lightning took out the power at the venue. The crowd stayed, lit the room with phone lights, and Blocker played the full hour-long set without any mics or production. It was a really special evening, he says. Blockers highly anticipated debut album, The Land On Most High, is available now on his own label, Elbow Grease Records. Recorded at Nashvilles Sound Emporium Studio B by Mitch Furr and produced by Patrick Lyons (Colter Wall, Josh Meloy, Noeline Hofmann), the album establishes Blocker among the most compelling emerging voices in country music. The Land On Most High is a collection of nostalgic daydreams, says Blocker. Its a picture thats painted using hundreds of little memories and momentsthe driveway basketball games, motel naps, homemade slip n slides, and trailside snacks that seemed insignificant at the time but continually creep back around to scratch my brain. Blocker is focused on building a lasting community around his music, staying true to his voice, and continuing to write songs that will be remembered when people look back on folk/country music from this era. He says, My hope is that the deeper I dive into my own memories through these songs, the more vividly each person listening will imagine theirs.

Fully Seated ShowOver the last two decades Cory Branan has released five albums to much critical acclaim from NPR, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone among others, who called him, A country boy with a punk-rock heart. He has toured extensively, appearing on stages from Letterman and the Ryman to your towns shittiest punk bar. ...a career stacked with lonesome country anthems to life on the road, delivered in a voice thats pleasantly weathered. - NPRBranans songs have been covered by such artists as Tyler Childers, Frank Turner, and Dashboard Confessional. He has also collaborated with the likes of Jason Isbell, Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), and Craig Finn (The Hold Steady) who have been included as featured guests on previous records. Branan has even been mentioned in the Lucero song, Tears Dont Matter Much with the lyrics, Cory Branans got an evil streak, and a way with words thatll bring you to your knees. Its rad, says Branan, to have a new home with nice folks at Blue Elan, whove threatened to turn me loose to make my kind of weird American music, and Im really looking forward to getting into the studio this fall and giving it hell.

Standing Room OnlySoon before Willie Watson turned 18, he met God in an apple orchard. Or at the very least, he met there a man named Ruby Love, the older friend of a high-school buddy who had an enormous Martin guitar and a seemingly bigger understanding of the American folk songbook.Watson was existentially thirsty: A high-school dropout from upstate New Yorks Finger Lakes, he was fast on his way to his first heartbreak and in a first band that didnt take itself seriously enough. But that night in an apple orchard that had always seemed magical, at a graduation party for one of his bandmates and best friends, Watson and Love sang a few of those old songs togetherWorried Man Blues and Tennessee Waltz. It was the first time Watson had cried while singing, the first time he had made the connection between making music and making sense of his life. He never saw Ruby Love again, but within months of that foundational 1997 rendezvous, he met the musicians with whom hed soon start Old Crow Medicine Show. Call it revelation, fate, resurrection, whatever you will; for Watson, more than a quarter-century later, itwas a duet with the divine.
