It was whilst living in my car that I wrote the songs for my first record. I was moving from town to town, learning my trade, playing on the streets and in bars. I taught myself to play slide guitar across my lap. I surfed badly and laughed a lot. For a year or so I was weightless. It’s been some 20 years since I’ve been back.
