Hugh Cornwell & Special Guests The Courettes

Thu, Nov 6 at 7:30 PM
Epic Studios

Event Information

Full band show featuring Nosferatu album in full, stranglers choice cuts, & solo delicacies. Golden Brown, Strange Little Girl, Always The Sun, Peaches, No More Heroes, Nice & Sleazy...Sound familiar ? All big hits, all great songs, all written and sung by Hugh Cornwell, the songwriter behind The Stranglers. When future historians of music draw up a list of the movers and shakers who changed the modern musical landscape, there will be no doubt that Hugh Cornwell’s name will be prominent amongst them. As a pioneering musician, songwriter, and performer his pervasive influence persists in the record collections of music aficionados, across this spinning globe’s radio waves, and on stages around the world. Hugh’s presence is unquestionable. As leader of The Stranglers, Hugh was the main songwriter of all the band’s most memorable songs across ten stellar albums. After their 1977 debut Rattus Norvegicus, follow up albums No More Heroes, Black and White, The Raven and The Gospel According to The MenInBlack consolidated Cornwell’s stature as a unique songwriter and musician. His lyrics to Golden Brown, from the La Folie album, and their multiple meanings, is a songwriting masterclass. Mojo - "Cornwell's still doing things his way and often with striking results"  Uncut - "Thunderously tribal garage rock...the ex- Strangler not yet gone soft"  The Courettes is an explosive Wall of Sound group from Denmark and Brazil! Flavia Couri on vocals and guitar, Martin on loud drums and together they are the perfect blend of Wall of Sound, Girl Group Heartbreaks, Motown and R&B. Imagine The Ronettes meeting The Ramones at a wild party at the Hitsville echo chamber! The new album “The Soul Of The Fabulous Courettes” is out on legendary Damaged Goods Records, London and Rough Trade, London. Epic Studios

Event Information

Norwich Arts Centre presents Nick Helm: No One Gets Out Alive at Epic Studios. Are you ready to have the best damn night of your effing life? Well don’t worry, the man with the golden larynx is back – and he’s aiming high. On his last tour Nick Helm promised you a Super Fun Good Time Show and, except for one man in Hull, no one could say he did anything other than more than deliver. This time, the International Treasure-in-Waiting is going to give you the best damn night of your miserable lives whether you want it or not. Nick Helm is the greatest living all-round entertainer of his or any generation, living or dead, and he’s coming to a town near you. What are you going to tell your grandkids? That you were busy that night? Well get ready for your grandkids to stare at you with a complete lack of comprehension. You’ll be considered, locally, an idiot. From now on, every time you catch your own reflection in a car window or the back of an old DVD, you’ll think yourself a wally. So chill the effout, wind your effing neck in and buy an effing ticket. They’re affordable and there’s an interval to buy refreshments and to look at your fellow audience members with a cocked head asking “Did he just change our lives?” Relent to him. He. Is. Your. New. God. You can run and you can hide, but no one gets out alive. Since starting stand-up comedy in 2007, Nick quickly gained attention from across the industry for his hilarious blend of one-liners, stories, poems and songs. He's been twice nominated for an Edinburgh Comedy Award, released two successful albums, and was nominated for a BAFTA for short film Elephant , which he co-wrote, directed and starred in. As also seen on Uncle , Loaded , Nick Helm’s Heavy Entertainment , Live at the Apollo , 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown and many more.  - Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s website page for the most up to date information. Over 16's only. This is a seated event and is allocated on a first come first serve basis. You cannot reserve a seat prior to the doors opening for any reason. Sh!t-Faced Shakespeare® Hamlet

Wed, Nov 12 at 6:30 PM
Epic Studios

Event Information

Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® Hamlet - Sh!t-faced Shakespeare® have toured the world, broken America, established themselves on London’s West End, won numerous awards, and survived a zero-star review in The Times. In 2025, they will be celebrating 15 years on the wagon with one of the Bard’s most popular tragedies, Hamlet. Featuring a cast of professional Shakespearean actors, this unique production takes an unpredictable twist each night as one performer is chosen to be deliberately intoxicated for up to four hours before showtime. The rest of the cast must then navigate the play, improvising their way through the unpredictable chaos that springs from their inebriated colleague's booze-fuelled antics. Sh!t-faced Shakespeare are excited to once again drunkenly stomp all over the greatest dramatic work ever committed to page in the English language: the story of a privileged whiny lad who goes a bit bonkers and does some stabbings. "How the hell did they make it to 15 years?!" we hear you cry. Book now and find out! Doors - 6:30pm Running Time - 7:30pm - 9:30pm approx. Age Advisory - 16+ - Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s website page for the most up to date information. Over 16's only and anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This is a seated event and is allocated on a first come first serve basis.
