Ulster GAA Award 2 Coaching. The Award 2 Coach Education course is the third award on the coaching pathway of Gaelic Games. The course is aimed at experienced coaches who have progressed through the Introduction to Coaching Gaelic Games/Foundation and Award 1 programmes.The Award 2 course has been reformatted to take account of the different playing capacities that exist between Children (up to 12 years), Youths (age 13 – 18) and Adults (age 19+) and the competencies that a coach is required to display when working with each of the playing populations. Therefore coaches can specialise in coaching the particular players that they are involved in.The course is 27 hours in duration and covers a number of key modules, as well as Introductory and Conclusion modules. These modules are: The focus of the course is the further development of the coaching skills by encouraging reflective practice and placing the participant in situations that they will face as coaches – the organisation of games activities, activities to develop skill and activities to develop the various physical fitness skills. Coaching Competencies to be Developed  The Award 2 Programme: Focuses on the further development of how and what to coach based on the playing group that you are involved with but also to look further at the integration of key areas that contribute to performance. Use of the FTEM pathway to do a personal, player and team analysis. The Course is divided into a number of modules; some expose coaches to practical situations and others are designed to develop your knowledge base.   Attending a Course Attendance at an Award 2 course is for those people that have already undertaken the Award 1 programme, and have gained some experience of coaching over a playing season. Full attendance, successful completion of a practical observation and submission of the couse logbook are essential in order to gain the Award 2 certification.  This course will be a combination of online webinars plus three practical events where full attendance is essential in order to gain Coaching Award. Webinars will run from 7-10 pm whilst practical sessions are 9am - 4pm   Wednesday 4th Feb - Online Webinar 7 - 9.30pm - Module 1 Introduction/ Module 2 The FTEM Model /Module 3 Physical Fitness Saturday 7th Feb - Kildress Wolfe Tones 9am - 3.30pm - Module 4 The Role of the Coach/ Module 5 Communication/ Module 6 - Skill Development Practical Wednesday 11th Feb - Online Webinar  7 - 9.30pm - Module 5 Coaching through the Rules/ Module 6 Planning and Periodization Saturday 14th Feb - Kildress Wolfe Tones 9am - 3.30pm - Module 7 Decision Making Practical/Module 8 Patterns of Play Wednesday 18th Feb - Online Webinar 7-9.30pm - Module 9 Psychological Focus/Module 10 Performance Analysis Saturday 21st Feb - Kildress Wolfe Tones 9am - 1.30pm - Final Practical Assessment Wednesday 25th Feb - Module 11 Talent ID/Module 12 Nutrition/Module 13 Player Welfare
