Keith Sweat, a Harlem native, was a pioneer of the New Jack Swing sound, blending electro-hip-hop with contemporary R&B. After performing in NYC nightclubs, he signed with Elektra Records in 1987 and released his triple-platinum debut, Make It Last Forever, featuring the hit I Want Her.
