Risco are the rising force in the UK music scene, turning heads with their explosive live shows and a sound that fuses the swagger of mod culture with the cinematic vibes of surf rock and classic movie soundtracks. Hailing from Stockton-On-Tees, the three-piece band has been making serious waves, both on stage and online. Since forming, Risco have taken their high-octane energy on the road, performing at venues up and down the UK and steadily building loyal grassroots following. Their relentless gigging schedule has seen them land shows at famous venues such as Dingwalls and The Good Mixer in Camden where the band performed to sold out crowds. Their breakout moment came with the release of their debut single, It’s Over, a track that perfectly captures their knack for that raw sound and catchy riffs. The single’s success was amplified by the band’s rapidly growing presence on TikTok, where their clips have racked up millions of views, connecting them with a whole new generation of fans who are hungry for something fresh yet rooted in timeless influences. With momentum on their side, Risco are not just another buzz band, they're a movement in the making. Travelling in from outside of Stockton-on-Tees and fancy making a night of it? In March of 2020, 3 of the original 4 members of cult ‘trash’ band THE STING-RAYS , plus 2 original members of The X-Men were tempted to play at the Bedlam Festival in the UK. Although having played with his various combos (Ug & The Cavemen, Earls Of Suave), this was the first time since the mid-’80s that Bal Croce had managed to get the guys together and perform live. Bal ,Bass player Keith and guitarist Mark from the original The STING-RAYS! together with Johnny Johnson on 2nd guitar (Cannibals/Vibes/Headcoats etc) Tim (X-men), Debbie on drums (X-Men, Nuns, Headcoatees, Ye nuns …) perform classic songs from the Sting-Rays + other 80’s Trash, Psycho, Garage Gems. Hayseed Dixie began in the Summer of 2000, when Barley Scotch (aka John Wheeler) stumbled across a wrecked car on an isolated mountain road in the hills of Deer Lick Holler, East Tennessee. While going through the car (as one does in such a situation), Brother Barley found a collection of vinyl record albums by a group he had never heard of called AC/DC. Taking these records back to town and playing them for his buddies on the only thing they had to play them on, a 78rpm Victrola, nobody had heard such sounds since the last time Uncle Virgil caught his leg in the grain elevator, and it was forthright revealed to Barley Scotch and the boys that the Lost Highway of Hank Williams and the Highway To Hell on these albums were in fact the very same damn road. The boys set out to record some of these new songs in their own mountain music style, and thus was recorded the first Hayseed Dixie album, “A Hillbilly Tribute To AC/DC” which contained stark-raving-plastered re-workings of 10 classic AC/DC songs. Released worldwide on April 17, 2001, and much to the surprise of everyone involved, this debut album proceeded to sell more than 200,000 copies in the US in its first year of its release. So the boys hit the road in the Summer of 2001 to play some live shows, chase some women, and drink some beer and whiskey. And they haven’t stopped since. Since 2001, Hayseed Dixie have released 16 studio albums, a Halloween EP, and a double live album recorded in Glasgow, Scotland. All of these can be streamed wherever you like to do that. Some of them can be bought on much better sounding vinyl LP, and this is what we recommend if you actually care about sound quality. “Shattered Grass” is the most recent Hayseed Dixie album, and it is their greatest album ever. Of course it is. It’s their most recent album and thus it’s the album the band are the least sick of. Travelling in from outside of Stockton-on-Tees and fancy making a night of it? Teesside 70’s punk band “The Lice” are here to play again live, after a silence of 48 years… Formed in 1977, The Lice were one of the first Teesside based punk bands, noted for their entertaining live shows and were a crowd favourite at the well known Rock Garden venue, in Middlesbrough. After 48 years The Lice are back for one night only, at The Georgian Theatre. The band recently released four tracks, which had never been previously released. They were recorded in 1977 at the famous Gooseberry Sound Studios in London. Bands such as The Sex Pistols, Tubeway Army, Linton Kwesi Johnson and Public Image Limited, also recorded at Gooseberry Studios, so the then “boys” were in good company. The four tracks, engineered by Mark Lusardi (yes, Linda’s brother and inventor of The Mutator), were never formally released, until now! The four tracks; Fight The Front, Rejected, Slave Labour and Teenage Dream can be found on the Bored Teenagers Vol 16 album. You can stream and download the album on all major streaming platforms, or you can buy it on CD or vinyl at www.boredteenagers.co.uk The Lice will be playing live on stage, with great support bands. There will be Limited Edition Tee Shirts (designed by local street artist ZX8BIT), collectable printed tickets (limited to 150), posters, pins and of course you will be able to buy the Bored Teenagers Vol 16 Album. So why not come along and see how it was done back in the day and have a stomping good night? Travelling in from outside of Stockton-on-Tees and fancy making a night of it?
