DJ Seinfeld

DJ Seinfeld

Thu, Oct 1 at 7:00 PM
HERE at Outernet, London

Event Information

DJ Seinfeld Presents 'If This Is It' LIVE  DJ Seinfeld (Armand Jakobsson) has become one of the most versatile and respected musicians in electronic music today. Rising to prominence in 2016 as part of the lo-fi house scene alongside producers including Ross FromFriends and Mall Grab, the Malmo, Sweden-born producer and DJ released his debut album ‘Time Spent away From U’ in 2017. The record received plaudits from Rolling Stone and Pitchfork, as well as praise from Flume, Flying Lotus and Bonobo. His acclaimed second album ‘Mirrors’, released in 2021 on Ninja Tune, saw him hone a melancholic yet optimistic sound that took elements of the deliberately sepia-tinged lo-fi aesthetic of his early work and brought the sonics firmly into focus. Not only did it draw strong reviews and see Seinfeld front the digital cover of Mixmag, it also led the lo-fi house pioneer to play everywhere from Coachella to DC10.After taking his Mirrors live show to The Warehouse Project and Printworks, ‘MIRRORS (REMIXED)’ dropped in 2023, breathing fresh life into the original record thanks to reworks by a hand-selected group of artists he admired, including LSDXOXO, salute and Kiimi. He also debuted in the Mixmag Lab London, contributed a mix to The Lot Radio in New York, and gained a monthly residency at CircoLoco in Ibiza. One of Seinfeld's biggest commercial successes arrived in 2024 with ‘Now U Do’, his infectious Confidence Man collaboration that became a huge crossover hit and is now certified Silver in the UK. 2024 also saw several singles (‘Hopecore’, ‘If U Like Me’), while 2025 brought a number of collaborations (‘Are You In?’ with sogumm, ‘the one’ with ATRIP, ‘Please Be Mine’ with Kungs) and remixes for the likes of K-Pop group Hearts2Hearts. Seinfeld kicked off 2026 with fan-favourite ‘Plush’, marking an early preview of his third studio album ‘If This Is It’, out this summer on Ninja Tune. The club-ready single arrived after nearly two years of being played around the world in Seinfeld’s lauded DJ sets, prompting fans to hunt for it online and making it one of the most requested track IDs from his 2023 Mixmag Lab.

An Evening with Kristin Hersh

An Evening with Kristin Hersh

Thu, Oct 1 at 7:30 PM
Hallé St Michael's

Event Information

Please Please You, Hey! Manchester & Brudenell Presents... Over the last three decades, Kristin Hersh’s prolific career has seen her heralded queen of the alternative release. Returning with a new solo record ‘Clear Pond Road’ released in September 2023, the album is a cinematic road trip; a series of personal vignettes from a fiercely independent auteur, plush with layers of atonal, edgy-dreamy strings and mellotron.   It’s a watershed moment in a career overflowing with creative firsts and inspirational thinking, an elegant piece of personal reportage. It’s a sensuous, life-affirming statement, a very personal memoir; it’s the a blossoming of a true icon of independence.  In 2018 Hersh announced a new partnership with Fire Records that made possible the release of her acclaimed tenth studio album, ‘Possible Dust Clouds’. Since then there’s been new releases from Throwing Muses (‘Sun Racket’, 2020) and 50Foot Wave (‘Black Pearl’, 2022) along with new book ‘Seeing Sideways’ (2022). “One of indie rock’s most fascinating figures” (The Guardian) Hersh has released over 20 solo records, with Throwing Muses and 50FOOTWAVE to date. She is the author of an acclaimed memoir — based on her teenage diary — about a particularly eventful year, titled “Rat Girl” (‘Paradoxical Undressing’ in the UK), which was named #8 on Rolling Stone’s “25 Greatest Rock Memoirs of all time.” She later released her albums ‘Crooked’ (2010), ‘Wyatt at the Coyote Palace’ (2016) and Throwing Muses’ ‘Purgatory/Paradise’ (2013) as groundbreaking books of music, artwork, essays and lyrics. NPR Books said of Hersh’s latest work, ‘Don’t Suck, Don’t Die’ about her friendship with the late Vic Chesnutt, “Not only one of the best books of the year, it’s one of the most beautiful rock memoirs ever written.”   Previously, the juxtaposition of light and dark has been essential to the drama of Throwing Muses and 50 Foot Wave, but this new record is something of a departure: more inward looking. Produced and performed by Hersh, ‘Clear Pond Road’ is quieter yet more outspoken, its inventive musical logic underpinned by the ambience of field recordings.  “Passion sounds less angry here, more grateful, I think,” Kristin says, “sweeter, sadder, and somehow no less alive. Honestly? It’s a love story and its erratic heart rate reflects this. As textured and raunchy as real life songs like these can get, the sonic vocabulary is delicate, so I had to respect that and keep it grounded with car engines and rain in New England, then whistling ducks and wind chimes in New Orleans. Which sounds wistful, like a blurry photograph.”  Currently in the studio working on the next offering from Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh is also preparing for a three month solo tour to celebrate across the UK and Ireland before heading to Australia and New Zealand.

Over 12's with an adult  Doors 7pm, 7.30pm start   "It’s a highway, filled with deep, exotic colors and beautiful delicate things as well as the perils that come from moving so fast," says Dar Williams, describing modern life. On her 13th album, Hummingbird Highway, out September 12 on Righteous Babe Records, Williams celebrates the colors she glimpses from her vantage as a touring musician. "I was a kid from the suburbs who listened when her hippie teachers said to get out in the world," Williams muses. Hummingbird Highway is the latest chapter in a richly unfolding story. Drawing on her experience as a playwright, Williams populates her latest album with nuanced characters that come alive in the space of a few minutes. On the title track, Williams sings from the perspective of a child speaking to her peripatetic and sometimes struggling parent. Blooming columbines, china blue teapots, and cinnamon bark number among the "treasures" in her life, despite the "pirates" that she imagines populating her worldly parent’s life. "The pirates can be all sorts of things living inside and outside your head. The child, for better or worse, knows that there is joy, unpredictability, and instability on the home front. She’s rooting for the joy."

The Delines

The Delines

Fri, Oct 2 at 8:00 PM
Glasgow University Debating Chamber

Event Information

Doors 7.30pm, 8m start    The Delines are set to return with their sixth album to day on March 6th via Decor Records entitled 'The Set Up'. The Portland, Oregon country-soul act has been touring the UK now for over ten years and are coming off the back of their previous album Mr Luck & Ms Doom which finished in the top 40 albums of the year end polls in UNCUT Magazine.  The album will be followed by Willy Vlautin's new novel 'The Left and The Lucky" next May on Faber & Faber. Willy Vlautin  of The Delines says " we were finishing the Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom sessions when I brought in a tune called Walking With His Sleeves Down. Amy learned it on piano and we recorded it live. Her take was stunning but the song didn’t quite fit the record. It was lonelier, more rattled, and it missed that rudderless romance that inhabits the world of Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom, so we set it aside. Next I brought in The Reckless Life. The song worked sonically but again didn’t feel quite right lyrically. Both it and Walking With His Sleeves Down pulled the listener into the lives of the drug-addled, the grifters, and the lost and not the romantics adrift on the road like Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom. So we shelved the songs and finished the record.  But even as we toured Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom I couldn’t stop writing songs for it. I think seeing the residue of the opioid epidemic in the US, the thousands of young people rattled with addiction and living in tents and on the streets and in old cars and RVs, influenced Luck and Doom but even more so with The Set Up: Dilaudid Diane, The Reckless Life, Jumping off in Madras, and Walking With His Sleeves Down all live in that world. And then I brought in the idea of The Set Up, a piece I’d been thinking about for Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom, a spoken word song in three parts: the lure, the catch, and the grift. I wrote the words, Cory wrote the music, and Amy played the part and man oh man did she deliver.  Our stalwart producer, John Morgan Askew, was at the helm again and he’s the king of building atmospheric worlds. You can really feel it on this one. By the time we finished we realized The Set Up was the wayward, misguided, and lonely sister to Mr. Luck & Ms. Doom. More ragged and undone but all CinemaScope Delines.

Your favourite 90s band, providing earworms for decades, are back and  absolutely unstoppable. Their first tour in 20 years sparked a global 30th  Anniversary Tour in 2022, which spanned the US, Europe, and Canada,  celebrating *The Ghosts That Haunt Me*. In 2023, the band celebrated 30 years since the release of their 3  times-Grammy nominated and platinum certified album “God Shuffled His Feet”. “Touring again was not something we’d planned on, but surprisingly – at  least to me – there are lots of people who many years later, still want to  come and hear us. The folks that are coming out to see these shows tell us  their stories, some of them very funny, some very dark and all very  personal. It’s very humbling, being in the confidence of so many people”  says lead singer-songwriter Brad Roberts, “and it has inspired us to  continue to tour and make music.”

Riskee & The Ridicule

Fri, Oct 2 at 7:30 PM
Brudenell Social Club

Event Information

JS Promotions Presents... "Incendiary grime punk band Riskee & The Ridicule return with their new album, Platinum Statue, released on August 25th via Ring Of Fire Records. For more than a decade, the band has released music with a rich history of focused scathing attacks on world politics yet this time around they decided to look more inwardly. Concentrating on the broad influences that each of the five members (Scott Picking - Vocals, Jimbo Aglony - Guitar & Vocals, Jordan Mann - Guitar & Vocals, Ben Maz - Bass, Matt Verrell - Drums, keys & Vocals) bring to the band, they allow these to breathe and lend to an album full of collaboration and brotherhood. By letting their individual inputs dictate the music, Platinum Statue explodes at break-neck speed into an innovative force of an album that tackles mental health, how to cope and the UK music scene. The first taste of this was their caustic and brutal single "My Name", an anthem dug from the dirt of the underground, dedicated to the music industry and every snake within it. Elsewhere “How I Feel” is about carrying on a party way after the party has stopped - both literally and metaphorically - and the anxieties that come with the hangover of a good time but wanting to keep it going, for better or worse. “Giving Up” tackles those moments of hopelessness and addressing depression when it comes in its waves. Throughout the entire record there’s an outburst of intricate guitars, breakdowns and relentless rhythm sections reaching new heights that all detonate with punk energy, cathartic hooks and sharp vocals. Having released critically acclaimed albums Dawn Of The Dog, Blame Culture, Body Bag Your Scenet and touring extensively across the UK, Europe and America, the band is renowned for their relentless energy which is now made concrete on Platinum Statue. The dials are turned up all the way and everything Riskee & The Ridicule were previously known for reaches ferocious new energy levels. Platinum Statue was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Oz Craggs at Hidden Track Studios."

Bill Callahan

Event Information

Brudenell Presents... With support from - Nathan Bowles My Days of 58 is the eighth Bill Callahan album, his first since 2022. The twelve tunes here open uncanny depths of expression as Bill continues to blaze one of the most original songwriting-and-performance trails out there. With My Days of 58, he applies the living, breathing energies of his live shows to the studio process, sharpening his slice-of-life portraiture to cut deeper than ever before. The core musicians featured on My Days of 58 is the group that toured for 2022’s REALITY: guitarist Matt Kinsey, saxophonist Dustin Laurenzi and drummer Jim White, whose synergy was evident in 2024’s live Resuscitate!. This showed Bill, as he puts it, “that they could handle anything I threw at them,” adding:  “Improv/unpredictability/the unknown is the thing that keeps me motivated to keep making music. It’s all about listening to yourself and others. A lot of the best parts of a recording are the mistakes — making them into strengths, using them as springboards into something human.” With this in mind, Bill prepared the songs with each player separately. Taking a note from songwriter, fan and friend Jerry DeCicca, he recorded the basic tracks for all but one song in a duo with Jim White. Meanwhile, he rehearsed with Matt, guitar to guitar, while asking Dustin to make horn charts for a few songs. Bill:  “I usually just sing a melody to a horn player or let them try a few takes and go from there. This time I thought, why not get some of the record charted out. There’s always room for spontaneity on top of that. And we did indeed throw some off the cuff stuff on top of the charted horns in a couple cases where they weren’t fully doing what I wanted. With this record I kept thinking of it as a ‘living room record.’ I’m not talking about fidelity at all here. Living room attitude. Living room vibe. Not too loud, not otherworldly. I asked for the horns to be relaxed like someone on the couch playing, not a blast from heaven or hell.” For more spontaneity and human color, Bill called up several other players: Richard Bowden on fiddle, whom he’d seen playing with Terry Allen and loved; pianist Pat Thrasher; bassist Chris Vreeland; and trombonist Mike St. Clair. About pedal steel player Bill McCullough, who he knew from Knife in the Water, Bill says this: “He has a real abstract approach to an abstract instrument — he’s a photographer (shot the front and back cover) and sees the steel in the same way as apertures and f-stops — foreground and mid ground and background — blurry and sharp. That’s how I’ve always seen the steel so it’s exciting to share that. But hobo stew is always the idea — throwing together who I have at hand instead of following a recipe. I’m always learning. I know very little after all these years. I go by gut mostly, but sometimes forget all the possible considerations to consider.  The goal of every record at the recording part of the process is to get thrown out of Eden. Every session starts in Eden but you have to get out of there at some point.”

Live Nation Presents Joyce Manor Plus Special Guests Joyce Manor are California pop-punk legends and I Used To Go To This Bar is this epochal band operating at the top of their game. They continue to deliver relentlessly satisfying rock music in a manner that makes it look simply effortless. The Torrance, California-hailing trio of Barry Johnson, Chase Knobbe, and Matt Ebert are at a point in their career where their position as one of the most beloved rock bands is a foregone conclusion. Their seventh album, produced by Brett Gurewitz (of Bad Religion and Epitaph Records CEO) finds the group continuing to find rich new veins to tap in their short-and-sweet songcraft without losing an ounce of bite that gained them such repute in the first place.A bustle of activity that followed the release of 2022’s excellent 40 Oz. to Fresno and included an instantly memorable appearance on John Mulaney’s Everybody’s in L.A. and a retrospective assessment of the group’s seminal 2011 self-titled debut as part of Pitchfork’s esteemed Sunday Review series. The band’s had a whirlwind touring schedule over the last few years, which has included an outing with Weezer and multiple sold-out shows at the legendary California venues Hollywood Palladium (including a guest performance by Mark Hoppus for the fan favorite “Heart Tattoo”) and Long Beach Arena. This new record retains the band’s penchant for punchy hooks while sounding fuller, more in-your-face, and all-around bigger than ever, with an all-star crew of collaborators along for this wild ride. Along with mixing pro Tony Hoffer (M83, Beck), behind-the-boards legend Tom Lord-Alge lent his Enema of the State engineer magic to several I Used To Go To This Bar cuts, including the first single “All My Friends Are So Depressed.” The album also features a rotating cast of drummers, including touring drummer Jared Shavelson, Social Distortion’s David Hildago, Jr., and Joey Waronker—the latter of whom is currently hitting the skins for Oasis’ reunion tour.  I Used To Go To This Bar feels like a true culmination of everything Joyce Manor’s achieved thus far, further cementing their current legacy as California pop-punk royalty as well as a truly generational punk band at large.
