Tue, Nov 11 at 7:30 PM
The Stanley

Event Information

From the songwriting team behind the smash hit Tony Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen and the critically acclaimed films La La Land and The Greatest Showman, A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL, brings the classic 1983 movie to hilarious life on stage! Set in 1940s Indiana, a young and bespectacled Ralphie Parker schemes his way toward the holiday gift of his dreams, an official Red Ryder Carbine-Action 200-Shot Range Model Air Rifle. An infamous leg lamp, outrageous pink bunny pajamas, a maniacal department store Santa, and a triple-dog-dare to lick a freezing flagpole are just a few of the distractions that stand between Ralphie and his Christmas wish. Nominated for three 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical, the Associated Press calls A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL a joyous Christmas miracle, while The New York Times writes I was dazzled. You would have to have a Grinch-sized heart to not feel a smile spreading across your face.

My Dead Friend Zoe

My Dead Friend Zoe

Sat, Nov 15 at 2:00 PM
The Stanley

Event Information

MY DEAD FRIEND ZOE is a dark comedy that follows the journey of Merit, a US Army Afghanistan veteran who is at odds with her family thanks to the presence of Zoe, her dead best friend from the Army. Despite the persistence of her VA group counselor, the tough love of her mother and the levity of an unexpected love interest, Merits cozy-dysfunctional friendship with Zoe keeps the duo insulated from the world. That is until Merits estranged grandfather- holed up at the family-owned ancestral lake house- begins to lose his way and is in need of the one thing he refuses- help. At its core, this is about a complicated friendship, a divided family and the complex ways in which we process grief. My Dead Friend Zoe is rated R for language. The film also includes intense scenes, themes of suicide, and mentions of drugs, alcohol, and smoking. While it does not have strong sexual content, there are a few frightening and intense scenes, including war flashbacks and discussions of trauma.
