Who wants a little more ska and reggae before the end of summer? If your answer is yes youll want to mark your calendars for Friday, September 12th when The Steadies and Phonosonics converge to bring us a night full of music, dancing and good times at Lucky Bar. Its been two years since The Steadies played a public show in Victoria! For those that have followed the Victoria Ska s go to bands when it comes to creating a reggae party. Their blend of ska, reggae, funk and other genres is infectious. Legendary frontman Earl Pereira is a three-time JUNO nominee and recent Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee. Band highlights include playing at Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival, opening for Gwen Stefani, Ziggy Marley, The Roots and performing at the Olympics, The Grey Cup, The JUNO Awards, and more. Phonosonics are one of Canadas best ska/rocksteady groups. Fresh off of backing Sister Nancy at this years historic and record breaking Victoria Ska Me and Mrs. Jones which has become one of Leroy Sibbles hottest singles and they have enjoyed airplay from legendary radio host David Rodigan who plays their music on his BBC Radio 1 Reggae Sundays program.

All Ages/LicensedThe Wailers, whom we have been working with for over 16 years and that headlined Victoria Ska re excited to offer this family concert to Vancouver Island and beyond. For this show The Wailers will be featuring the 30th anniversary of their acclaimed compilation album, Natural Mystic: The Legend Lives On. Following the success of their 2024 tour which honored Bob Marleys legendary album Legend, The Wailers are set to bring the entirety of Natural Mystic to life on stage, offering fans a unique and immersive experience. Anticipate a full live rendition of Natural Mystic: The Legend Lives On, bringing its classic tracks to life on stage, alongside other classics and select tracks from the Grammy-nominated Evolution. This show promises a unique blend of nostalgia and contemporary reggae rhythms, making this show an unforgettable experience. Joining The Wailers for this unforgettable show is Caleb Hart re a reggae fan from Western Canada you will have probably heard of Caleb Hart. Born in Trinidad and Tobago, but now settled in Victoria, Caleb is a musician and arts administrator singing lead vocals in his band Caleb Hart s vast musical connections he will be featuring some of the most talented and entertaining up and coming BC artists on this show. The part of his band include Nostic who is a Canadian/Peruvian MC and creator. Nostic shifts between Spanish and English effortlessly combining his raps with beatboxing and singing. Janelle Reid who is one of BCs most talented reggae and soul singers is another Friend of Caleb Harts special ensemble. Janelle Reid was also born in Trinidad and Tobago and now makes Vancouver her home. In an article written by Steve Newton of Ear of the Newt in 2021 she explained I learned to sing before I spoke so technically, Ive always been singing. I wasnt much of a talker as a baby, really, but I sang, and so singing was my way of talking. Janelle sings with Vancouvers Mad Riddim and makes guest appearances with other bands while juggling her solo career. Rounding out the Friends is Sofa Lenne, a soulful singer-songwriter from Guadalajara, Mexico now based on Vancouver Island. Shell be performing with El Slow Mo - a dynamic bilingual rapper from Mexico and Daniel Sar - a Colombian multi-instrumentalist. Together they are The Trippycals and were happy to have them debut at this show!

For anyone that attended the closing performance at Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival in 2023, they might remember a 12 piece juggernaut of a band from Niagara, Ontario called My Son the Hurricane that left everyone in a state of joy, amazement and disbelief. If you werent in the audience that day, on Sunday, September 28th at Lucky Bar youll now have an opportunity to hear what all the buzz across Canada is about this band. A good description of them would be a hurricane of energy mixing funk, ska, reggae, hip hop and everything in between into a glorious mix with an explosive live stage presence. Since My Son the Hurricanes historic closing performance at Victoria Ska & Reggae Festival they have travelled the world playing on major festivals and events. Now for their final day of their world tour they will be coming to Victoria to extend their last burst of energy to our Island faithful. Joining them will be Victorias own Apex Breaks who will blend their brand of jungle funk, ska and hip hop with My Son the Hurricane. And to top it off we have the legendary conscious hip hop of Mo Moshiri to start off the evening. In total when you put all three of these acts together we have a triad of music beyond epic proportions. Join us on Sunday, September 28th at Lucky Bar and youll remember this show for years to come!
