HAND BOOKBINDING I Level I: Participants will take home a blank book they create in class, using the methods that were employed from about the first century through the mid 19th century. They will hand-sew the book sections (called signatures); secure the hard covers; add a leather or cloth spine, and decorative paper, to the covers; and lay down the endpapers. Participants will also be provided step-by-step written instructions they can take home. All materials are included, and tools will be provided. Cost per Person: $140/Adult (Age 14 and Up) Class size is limited to 8 people. Participants must be over the age of 14. Participants under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Length of Class: Typical class lasts about 5-6 hrs Lunch: We invite participants to bring a lunch to eat during the workshop. We have a refrigerator available if needed. Workshops Health Safety Precautions Effective 3/3/2022, face masks are optional, not required. Workshops are limited to 6 persons maximum to allow for social distancing. Intro to Brush Lettering Join us for a brush lettering workshop at Historic Sugartown! Brush lettering is a style of hand lettering where a brush pen is used to create letters and words, often incorporating both thick and thin strokes. The workshop will be held in Historic Sugartown's Carriage Museum on Saturday August 16th from 1pm-2:30pm. Use 273 Boot Road for parking! Introduction to Brush Lettering includes a pencil, brush pen, and a workbook to learn Modern Calligraphy. Learn how to use a new tool to achieve calligraphy strokes! We will practice making thick and thin lines to create beautiful letters, and words. Try a few different styles and get creative! This event is BYOB! Attendees under 16 years are welcome! We ask that anyone 16 or under be accompanied by a ticketed adult. Cost for the workshop is $70. Materials are included in the cost.

Join us for one or all of our seminars that are a part of our 2025 Beekeeping Series. Each session in the Beekeeping Series will include pictures, video, discussion, and hopefully answers to your questions! an experienced beekeeper from the Chester County Beekeepers Association will present. These evening seminars are $5.00 each and will be held in the Carriage Museum at 6:30pm. You can sign up and register using the button below. At the Biergarten events, experienced beekeepers will discuss various aspects of beekeeping and, weather permitting, will have an observation hive for your viewing pleasure. When available, honey and bee products will be available to sample and purchase.
