This class is needed as part of the 40 ours of training to earn a Site Safety Training (SST) card to be legal to work construction or demoltion at major job sites in NYC. The 30-hour Construction Outreach Training Program is intended to provide a variety of training to workers with some safety responsibility. New York Safety and Training's course emphasizes hazard identification, avoidance, control, and prevention, not OSHA standards. Instructional time must be a minimum of 30 hours. OSHA mandates that the 30 hours of training be broken into 15 hours of mandatory topics, 12 hours of elective topics, and 3 hours of optional topics as follows: Mandatory - 15 hours Introduction to OSHA -- 2 hours.Covers workers' rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. It includes helpful worker safety and health resources. It also provides samples of a weekly fatality and 3 catastrophe report, material data safety sheet, and the OSHA Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses (OSHA Form 300). Managing Safety and Health -- 2 hours. May include Injury and Illness Prevention Programs, job site inspections, accident prevention programs, management commitment and employee involvement, worksite analysis, hazard prevention and control, accident investigations, how to conduct safety meetings, and supervisory communication. OSHA Focus Four Hazards -- 6 hours. Because most construction fatalities are caused by fall hazards, falls must be covered for a minimum of one hour and 15 minutes. The other focus four hazards must be covered for a minimum of one-half hour each. A trainer may spend up to 10 hours on this topic. (1) Falls (minimum one hour and 15 minutes) (2) Electrocution (3) Struck-By (e.g., falling objects, trucks, cranes) (4) Caught-In or Between (e.g., trench hazards, equipment) Personal Protective and Lifesaving Equipment -- 2 hours. Health Hazards in Construction -- 2 hours. May teach noise, hazard communication, and crystalline silica or any other construction health hazard. Stairways and Ladders -- 1 hour. Elective - 12 hours The instructor will teach at least 6 of the following topics: Concrete and Masonry Construction Confined Space Entry Cranes, Derricks, Hoists, Elevators, & Conveyors Ergonomics Excavations Fire Protection and Prevention Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal Motor Vehicles, Mechanized Equipment and Marine Operations; Rollover Protective Structures and Overhead Protection; and Signs, Signals and Barricades Powered Industrial Vehicles Safety and Health Programs Scaffolds Steel Erection Tools - Hand and Power Welding and Cutting Optional - 3 hoursThe instructor will teach other construction industry hazards or policies and/or expand on the mandatory or elective topics.

This class includes 8-hour Fall Prevention AND 2-hour Drug & Alcohol Awareness AND SST Card Application(must have completed OSHA 30 to be eligiblefor SST card) As long as you have a valid OSHA 30 COnstruction card dated within the last 5 years, you will receive your SST card upon completion of this class. If you do not yet have an OSHA 30 card, you can take this class and receive temporary certificates. When you later ashow us a valid OSHA 30 card, we will create your SST card for you. Department of Transportation (DOT)  4-hour Flagger Class in Brooklyn Earn you Flagger card for the bargain price of only $150. Make yourself more hireable if you're looking for work, and if you already have a job, make yourself invaluable to your team with your Flagger certification.   Flagger training and certification. From New York State Department of Transportation Standard Specifications: “Flagger Training. All flaggers shall be adequately trained in flagging operations by recognized training programs, including the American Traffic Safety Services Association, the National Safety Council, unions, or construction industry associations, or by an individual who holds a current certification as a flagger training instructor from such a program. Prior to the start of flagging operations, the Contractor shall provide to the Engineer a list of certified flaggers to be used in the operation, identifying the source of flagger training for each individual. When requested by the Engineer, flaggers shall demonstrate their competency in flagging procedures. Flaggers not competent in flagging procedures shall be retrained or replaced at once." NYST Flagger instructors hold current American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA) certification as a flagger training instructor. You cannot work on a supported scaffold in New York City without this card. Take this engaging safety class and be qualified to work. All participants who complete the 4 hours of training will receive a photo ID Worker Wallet card at the end of class. NOTE: for NYST to be able to issue your Worker Wallet card at the end of class, all of your DOB classes listed on your Training Connect profile must have complete certifiates uploaded to your account. If you have a different class from a different training company and that company has not uploaded the certificate for that class, the DOB Training Connect will not allow us to issue you a Worker Wallet card yet. If you already have a Worker Wallet card, this Scaffold class will be added to your existing card.   New York Safety and Training is authorized by the New York City Department of Buildings to offer the 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User and Refresher Course. According to Local Law 41, all workers must attend this 4-Hour safety course before setting foot on any scaffold. This course presents OSHA 1926 Subparts E, L, and M; NYC Construction Codes overview; NYC DOB safety reporting protocols; proper donning and doffing of personal fall arrest systems; and scaffold parts, safe working procedures, and hazard recognition.
