Last August saw the Bedford-born artist headline his biggest show to date to a capacity crowd of 25,000 at Gunnersbury Park. </p><p style="text-align: center;"><em>Everywhere I Went Led Me to Where I Didn’t Want to Be</em> is the multi-platinum-selling artist’s fourth full-length album, which is set for release Friday 15 August, it serves as the eagerly awaited follow-up to 2023’s <em>What Ifs & Maybes</em>.<br><br><em>“Shadowboxing”</em> is the second song to be unveiled from Tom’s forthcoming album following the release of slick, upbeat single <em>“Higher”</em> in September and was the first song he and Justin Tranter wrote together.</p><p style="text-align: center;">Now he’s readying to take things to a whole new level still with a state-of-the-art pop album made with Justin Tranter. Keen to explore a new sound, Tom enlisted the songwriter and producer behind hits for Britney Spears, Linkin Park, Dua Lipa and Fall Out Boy and found in Tranter a collaborator who understood exactly what he wanted to say and what he wanted to sound like: George Michael, Prince, Freddie Mercury. <em>“So much of the new music is uplifting — it makes you dance, makes you sing,”</em> Tom says.</p><p style="text-align: center;">His upcoming album sees the evolution of one of UK’s most exciting talents at his creative best and is set to be a stunning addition to Tom Grennan’s already-impressive discography, which has seen him accumulate over 1.5 million album sales and 2.5 billion streams across his gold-selling debut <em>Lighting Matches</em> (2018), his first UK number one album <em>Evering Road</em> (2021) and <em>What Ifs & Maybes</em> (2023), another number one and Tom’s third gold-selling album in a row. I’ve done so much touring in the last couple of years, averaging about 100 shows a year, and it's become abundantly clear to me that this album <em>Awake</em> was a really vital part of so many people’s lives and emotional journeys. I’ve chatted to so many people about the wide-eyed exploration and optimism of the record, and how it still seems to find people at the exact right time that they need that kind of energy. </p><p style="text-align: center;">It’s an album that seemed to change a lot of lives, including mine. I’m looking forward to facing that, head on, and exploring what these songs mean to me and the audience today, 20 years on. They still feel potent. </p><p style="text-align: center;">I’m going to play the whole album in full, with a great band behind me, and tell you some stories about how these tunes came to be. We're doing it 2005 style, no backing tracks, no click tracks, no video screens. Just a great band on a stage covered in flowers, singing songs about love and lust and adventure and interconnectivity.
