Pictish Trail
Event Information
Pictish Trail, AKA Johnny Lynch, has just completed work on a brand-new album — a sticky, shimmering swirl of sound and slime (both metaphorical and literal). To celebrate, he’s embarking on a series of special solo shows, previewing songs from the forthcoming release. These intimate performances will see Lynch in raw, exploratory mode, armed with an acoustic guitar, a sampler, and a warped imagination — expect tenderness, weirdness, and a generous dollop of goo. Based on the Isle of Eigg in the Scottish Hebrides, Pictish Trail is known for his wildly inventive electro-acoustic psych-pop. His 2022 album Island Family, his third for London’s Fire Records, drew acclaim from The Observer, The Times, Mojo, Uncut, Loud & Quiet, and BBC 6 Music. It was followed in autumn 2024 by Follow Footsteps — an EP of reworked Island Family tracks released via his own Lost Map Records, in conjunction with Fire. Recasting the euphoric-bucolic psychedelia of ‘Island Family’, ‘Melody Something’ and ‘Nuclear Sunflower Swamp’ through a softer filter — and complemented by a pair of incidental instrumentals — Lynch discovered delicately kaleidoscopic new resonance in the material. Pictish Trail’s earlier albums Secret Soundz Vols. 1 & 2 (2008/2013) were gloriously eclectic slices of lo-fi folk-pop, later reissued on deluxe double-vinyl by Moshi Moshi in 2014. His third album Future Echoes (2016) received widespread acclaim and was shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY Award), winning the public vote, before being reissued by Fire in 2018. His fourth album, Thumb World, was released by Fire in 2020. Pictish Trail has toured the world as both headliner and support for the likes of Belle & Sebastian, Pavement, Mogwai, Sea Power, and KT Tunstall. He’s performed at major festivals including Glastonbury (Park Stage), Field Day, Camp Bestival, Deer Shed, Celtic Connections, Blue Dot, the Edinburgh Fringe, and every single edition of Green Man Festival (22 and counting). Outside his own music, Johnny is a key figure in the UK’s independent music scene. Through Lost Map Records, he has championed a diverse and idiosyncratic roster — helping to elevate artists such as Rozi Plain, Alabaster dePlume, Seamus Fogarty, Bas Jan, Callum Easter, and Free Love.

Fast-rising Irish duo Adore consisting of Lara (guitar, vocals) and Naoise Jordan Cavanagh (drums) - hailing from Dublin and Galway join us at The Crescent for their UK headline tour after their release debut EP 'BITER' via Big Scary Monsters. Produced by Daniel Fox (of Gilla Band), 'BITER' is a volatile and unexpectedly moving seven-track sucker punch. A snarling collision of punk grit and alt-rock melodies, Adore pull inspiration from horror films, vampire folklore and personal experience, with the EP unravelling the quiet ways we contort ourselves to fit in, and the chaos that follows when we push back. With every new release, Adore sharpen their edge and stretch their reach, building towards defining the next chapter of Irish punk & further staking their claim as one of Ireland’s most exciting new voices. Pulling from a lineage of bands that made messiness feel deliberate - citing the likes of Misfits, Sleater-Kinney, Le Tigre, The Breeders, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs all as points of influence. The band have played live relentlessly since their debut in 2023: with dates supporting Warmduscher, SPRINTS, CHALK, Cardinals, The Scratch, Pillow Queens, 86TVs, The Bug Club & festival appearances at The Great Escape, Dot To Dot, All Together Now, Electric Picnic, Manchester Psych Fest, Brighton Psych Fest and Edinburgh Psych Fest and many more. Please Please You & Brudenell Presents... 16+ Ozric Tentacles are regarded as one of the most influential bands to emerge from the UK’s festival scene, formed during the solstice at Stonehenge Free Festival 1983 going on to become psychedelic staples at Glastonbury and other festivals. The creative vision of multi-instrumentalist Ed Wynne, the Ozrics’ uniquely trippy soundscapes connect fans of progressive rock, psychedelia and dance music culture. In the 1980s the band built a fan base on the festival circuit and made a series of cassette releases, sold at gigs and via a fan club. Their first label release was Pungent Effulgent in 1989, which was also re-released in the early 2000s, packaged with Strangeitude. This was followed by Erpland (1990), an album dedicated to Erp, a character who appears on many of the band’s album artworks. 1991 saw the Strangeitude LP. The track “Sploosh!” was used by BMW in an advertising campaign and became the band’s only single. By 1993 their Jurassic Shift album reached the top ten of the U.K. album charts. Over the years the band has gone through many line-up changes, with only Ed Wynne (guitar and keyboards) maintaining a constant presence. The sonically illustrated excursion through the musical realms the band have explored has resulted in 17 albums to date, with their latest, Lotus Unfolding, released in their 40th anniversary year. The band maintain their identity and continue to tour worldwide and produce intriguing albums. Disney's The Muppet Christmas Carol will be presented this winter live in concert on a UK-wide tour, featuring a screening of the complete film with its musical score performed live by orchestra. The Muppets perform Charles Dickens' classic holiday tale, with Kermit the Frog playing Bob Cratchit, the put-upon clerk of stingy Ebenezer Scrooge (Michael Caine). Gonzo, as Dickens, narrates the story with the help of Rizzo the Rat. The film also features Miss Piggy as Emily Cratchit, Fozzie Bear as Fozziwig, and Robin the Frog as Tiny Tim. When the grumpy Scrooge receives Christmas Eve visits from the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, they show him the error of his self-serving ways. Though the miserable old man seems beyond any hope of redemption and happiness, the kind and humble Bob Cratchit, his family, and the Spirits open Scrooge's eyes - and his heart - to the true meaning of Christmas.
