To wrap up its 35th Anniversary season, the three ensembles of TYWO are joined by five of its illustrious alumni who have gone on to make their careers in music. Added to this, we welcome Canadian composer Matt Neufeld, who will join us as we perform the premiere of his newest work commissioned to commemorate 35 successful years. Cause for "Celebrations"! TYWO brings together young people to encourage and develop their musical skills in rehearsal, performance and on tour. Within three auditioned ensembles, musicians are challenged with a broad variety of repertoire and friendships are forged. The TYWO program promotes the essence of teamwork and builds confidence and interpersonal skills within a safe, barrier-free environment, open to all. Our product is music; our goal is to instil a lifelong relationship with music into the lives of our musicians and our audiences.

Vancouver Civic Theatres is hosting guided tours of the Orpheum, one of the most beautiful concert halls in North America. The Orpheum, a designated National Heritage Site, was built in 1927. Each year the theatre hosts international musicians, popular concerts and unique events; it is also home to the beloved Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. The 90 minute walking tours are led by the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and reveal many secrets of the iconic theatre's history; including the time Frank Sinatra was almost kicked out of the theatre for breaking dressing room lights while practising his golf swing! Reservations are strongly encouraged as tours frequently fill up in advance. Walk-up patrons will be accepted at the door as space permits. If the cost of a reserved admission is a barrier to your participation, please contact vct.presents@vancouver.ca to explore options for support. As this tour takes place in an operating theatre, some sections of the building may be inaccessible. This program is presented in partnership with the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and Downtown Van. *Please meet guides at the Granville Street entrance. *Please note that this tour includes walking and stair climbing. *Photography is permitted, though this tour is not suitable for photography groups or clubs. It is the swinging 60s! Step back into the halls of "Liverpool High" where four lads with mop-top dreams are about to shake up the school talent show. Four students form a band to impress their crushes, two exchange students all the way from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. But nothing goes smoothly for the fab four; the boys cannot agree on a name for the band, the rival acts are really great, the principal believes that rock music rots the brain, and the girls cannot decide which boy they like! Join us for this hysterical, harmony filled spoof where Beatlemania crashes headfirst into high school comedy. Screaming is optional, dancing is unavoidable! Tickets include a live musical theatre production featuring Manitoba talent, in combination with a themed 3 course plated meal (choose 1 of 4 entrees crafted by our elite culinary leaders).

Facilitated by: Jan Gourley (she/her), RECE (with background support from Sara Gill (she/her) - Executive Director, Adult Basic Education Association) Do you: Send emails to families and community partners on behalf of your program? Use written materials to advertise your services? Communicate with other professionals in writing? Create newsletters, calendars, brochures, applications or websites? Want your information to be understood by as many people as possible? If you answered “yes!” to any of these questions, then Professional Learning in Clear Writing is for you! This session will help you create effective written materials by exploring: How to make your messages clear by choosing the right words How to use graphics and layout to make your written materials easier to read How to design written materials for people with low literacy, people whose first language isn’t English and people who are busy! By the end of the workshop, you will have several new ideas on how to communicate successfully through written material. Jan Gourley (She/Her) is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She has worked in a wide variety of capacities in the early years field from running a home childcare business, to almost every position within local childcare centres, to working as a DECE for a school board. Jan also has previous experience providing technical support, as well as in management roles in other fields of work. Jan has also worked for Literacy Link South Central (LLSC) and Fanshawe College Access Studies where she discovered her passion for helping adult learners further develop the literacy and workplace skills they need to skyrocket their careers. Jan believes in the importance of being a lifelong learner and maintaining a growth mindset… she is always encouraging herself and everyone she works with to recognize that they may not know something, but they just don’t know it yet! Jan remains passionate about the field of Early Learning, the valuable work that ECEs do, and advocating for and empowering everyone who works in the Early Learning field. Facilitated by: Lindsay Lapaquette, M.Sc.(A) This is a special topic presentation for our Leadership Community of Practice! Please note that Lindsay will be presenting virtually - participants who attend in person will have morning treats provided by Black Walnut. Cultivating the skills and engagement of your team members means committing to providing performance feedback, including consistent informal feedback, as issues arise. But what happens when your team members become defensive and are resistant to hearing about areas they need to improve? Or when they struggle to sustainably integrate recommended changes to their job performance? And, equally as important, how confident and comfortable are you in addressing performance concerns? In this session, we will delve into the art of providing performance feedback using an individualized, strengths-based, skill-building approach that fosters employee reflection and inspires improvement. You will gain the skills needed to engage in feedback conversations with confidence. You will also discover an effective feedback approach that will enable you to provide targeted support to resolve performance challenges more quickly and effectively, while fostering trust, collaboration and professional growth in your organization. Learning Outcomes: Uncover the root cause of problems with employee performance more quickly Give feedback in a way that drives performance improvement and boosts productivity Address even the most sensitive of issues with confidence and success Implement a performance management approach that will build trust, collaboration and professional growth Discover key phrases you can use to prevent and/or de-escalate conflict during feedback conversations This session is designed for professionals in a leadership role within their organization. Lindsay Lapaquette, M.Sc.(A) is a highly respected speaker and facilitator who supports leaders and teams to build authentic, collaborative, and engaging workplaces rooted in genuine human connection. With over 20 years of experience and an insatiable curiosity for how people relate, Lindsay draws on her professional background in neuroscience, communication, and emotional regulation to support managers in leading with clarity, confidence, and connection. Lindsay's approach has been shaped by her lived experience navigating life as a disabled parent to two disabled children, alongside personal experiences with loss and resilience. This unique blend of personal and professional experience enables Lindsay to share perspectives that help teams strengthen trust, collaboration, and understanding while navigating complex interpersonal dynamics.

Journey back in time at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum, a volunteer-run museum and restoration project located in Fairfield. On Saturdays at 2PM, walk down the path past heritage apple trees and beautiful gardens and step into one of only a few 1860s houses still standing in Victoria. From the bright and airy drawing room to the charming children’s bedroom, the house has been restored with extraordinary care to appear as it did when the Roscoe family called it home. Come experience a unique piece of Victoria's past, with a knowledgeable volunteer as your guide. The Gothic Revival Ross Bay Villa was built in 1865 for Victoria businessman Francis Roscoe and his wife, Anna Letitia Roscoe. Located far away from the bustling streets of the new gold rush town and a short distance from the beach at Ross Bay, the property offered a beautiful countryside home for the Roscoes’ and their growing family. Since the year 2000, the site has undergone a massive transformation through thousands of volunteer hours spent carefully returning the house to it's original appearance inside and out. Admission is $7.50 plus tax per person. Tours must be booked ahead of time. All funds support the volunteer-based Ross Bay Villa Society which owns and operates Ross Bay Villa. Drop in a little early for your Saturday tour for our Ross Bay Villa Gift Shop. This unique vintage store has handcrafted items made by volunteers, plus everything from clothing and books to fine china and unexpected treasures. Stop by between 10-2 and find something special! Please note, donations of smaller, gently used household items are gratefully accepted. Notes: If no tickets are available for your Saturday tour date, this means all tickets released have been sold. As our historic museum is best explored in small groups with a guide, we try not to overcrowd each tour. If you would still like to visit on your preferred date, please arrive shortly before 2PM and speak to a member of our Society. We will do our best to accomodate you, but your tour slot will not be guaranteed as it is dependent on if another volunteer is available to host a second tour. If so, we can accept cash or etransfer (treasurer@rossbayvila.org) for your ticket. Our historic house museum has been restored to its appearance in the 1860s-70s. Nothing is behind glass! For that reason, children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 6 are no charge. The Villa is walker and wheelchair accessible, but due to the cozy confines of this mid-Victorian house, users of larger mechanized chairs may find the interior rooms more difficult to access. If you have any accesibility needs, please email us at info@rossbayvilla.org for more information.

As both artist and gardener, Mimi O’Bonsawin (Pronounced: MEE-MEE O-BON-SA-WIN) draws a deep connection between the two practices: “Making music and growing food are very much the same. They both start with a seed and, with proper care, can grow into a beautiful garden that we all can share. I put intention and love into every seed and every note.” In May 2025, Mimi was awarded Solo Artist of the Year at the Trille Or Awards. Earlier in the year, she toured Australia with performances at the Woodford and Cygnet Folk Festivals. After a winter hard at work on her next album, she spent the summer on the road with her band at Festivals across Canada, including Vancouver Folk Festival, Mission Folk Festival, Francos de Montréal, Festival en Chanson Petite-Vallée and was invited by Elisapie to perform on the TV series Le Grand-Solstice, airing nationally on Ici-Télé & APTN. Mimi performs as a duo with her husband, Ryan Schurman, on drums and percussion, creating an intimate yet uplifting experience. Together, they invite audiences into their universe with a full-band sound that inspires dancing, singing and joy. 2024 brought incredible opportunities, with performances at festivals and arts centres across Canada. Mimi opened for JUNO-award-winning artists, including Aysanabee, Good Lovelies, The East Pointers, and DJ Shub, as well as Beverly Glenn-Copeland at Montreal’s Rialto Theatre. In spring 2024, during her second tour in France, Mimi released Live In Concert, her first-ever live album, capturing favourite moments from one of her Willow album release shows. Released in March 2023, Willow is a collection of 14 songs that marked a turning point in her creative journey. “This album sounds like the music I have always heard in my heart,” Mimi says. “It is honest, it is real, and it is full of life. I have never felt more alive.” Late that year, on September 29, 2023, she released her first full-length French album, Boréale, an intimate reflection of her roots, also recorded with Ryan in their log home studio. The 2023/2024 season was marked by acclaim, with nominations at the Folk Music Ontario Awards, Capital Music Awards, Canadian Folk Music Awards, Northern Ontario Music & Film Awards, Native American Awards, and Prix Trille Or. Her albums Willow and Live In Concert were also considered at the GRAMMYs. In 2019, Mimi won Best Pop Album at the Indigenous Music Awards. Reaching new audiences at home and abroad, Mimi stays true to this statement: “I want to invite audiences into my world because, for me, music is medicine. It’s not mine, it’s not yours, music is something we all share. It is our garden.” The North Sound is an award-winning roots-Americana group based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, led by Blackfoot singer-songwriter Forrest Eaglespeaker and vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Nevada Freistadt. Blending elements of Americana, folk-rock, and alt-country, the group crafts songs that speak to lived experience, exploring themes of belonging, perseverance, and the search for connection with sincerity and heart. Whether performing as an intimate duo or a full five-piece band, The North Sound invites audiences into an experience that feels both personal and universal. Their music is grounded in the power of storytelling, offering moments of reflection, healing, and joy. Forrest’s compelling voice and stage presence are matched by Nevada’s emotive harmonies, creating a performance that leaves a lasting impression and fosters a genuine sense of community. Since forming in 2014, The North Sound has become a compelling force in the Canadian music scene. Their live shows are soulful, honest, and impactful—perfect for soft-seat theatres, folk/roots festivals, and community-driven events. The group’s music has garnered national acclaim:• 4 #1 singles on the Indigenous Music Countdown and Saskatchewan’s MBC Radio• 2x winner of Indigenous Artist of the Year at the SaskMusic Awards (2020 & 2021)• Featured performances at the Regina Folk Festival, the National Arts Centre, and more• Collaborations with JUNO Award-winner Crystal Shawanda and New Sun Music Their albums showcase The North Sound’s rare ability to merge personal storytelling with a wide-reaching musical appeal. Every now and then, if we are really lucky, we encounter an artist like Sandra Bouza, whose voice stops us in our tracks. An award winning Spanish Canadian artist who cut her teeth on stages all over the world, she has returned to Canada and invested her heart and soul into a career in music, and people are noticing. Her wealth of life experience is evident in her well crafted and poignant lyrics. Everyone who’s heard her sing knows that Sandra’s always been a powerful vocalist and a compelling songwriter, but with her recent, ‘A Sound in the Dark’, she has truly found her own voice. Her dynamic live shows carry a range of energies; from a smoking hot band that will get you moving to intimate stripped down acoustic performances that possess the ability to silence an audience. Bouza has recently been nominated for Maple Blues ‘Best New Artist” award and her recent album ‘A Sound in the Dark’ has been nominated for ‘Best New Contemporary Album’ at the Canadian Folk Music Awards.

THE BELLAMY BROTHERS: THE LOVE STILL FLOWS Howard and David continue to prove that the trail theyve ridden to fame has been as unique as their music itself.Internationally, the story has been the samethough the titles may be different. The Bellamys have released more than two-dozen hit songs outside the U.S. that were never released here. With a sharp eye on the songwriting skills that have been the bedrock of their success, Howard and David concur that their career is unique in their international finesse for matching their songs to the market. For the international releases, you have to have a strong melody, notes David. The lyric is very important, but internationally the melody is something fans can lock into, even if they cant understand the lyrics. Howard and David continue to perform and film TV specials in Europe and around the world. These days when the subject turns to touring, The Bellamys are showing a new generation of country music how its done. Were old road dogs, grins Howard when asked about the motivation behind the brothers 200 plus concert dates each year. Adds David: Our live draw is bigger than it was in the 80s. I think the same people that grew up with us and with our music in the 60s and 70s obviously have raised a whole new generation of Bellamy fans who started toddling to our music. Now theyre turning up at our concerts as college kids, who are really turned on and tuned in to us and our music.its a great feeling- This show is all ages / Kids 10yrs and under are free- Government ID required for liquor purchase- This is a seated event, rounds of 8 seats per table- Event is based on first come first serve unless you buy the entire table- Subject to bag checks at doors- No outside food or drink / However food will be availible for purchase during event- No recording audio of any kind- Limited Parking at Venue
