To wrap up its 35th Anniversary season, the three ensembles of TYWO are joined by five of its illustrious alumni who have gone on to make their careers in music. Added to this, we welcome Canadian composer Matt Neufeld, who will join us as we perform the premiere of his newest work commissioned to commemorate 35 successful years. Cause for "Celebrations"! TYWO brings together young people to encourage and develop their musical skills in rehearsal, performance and on tour. Within three auditioned ensembles, musicians are challenged with a broad variety of repertoire and friendships are forged. The TYWO program promotes the essence of teamwork and builds confidence and interpersonal skills within a safe, barrier-free environment, open to all. Our product is music; our goal is to instil a lifelong relationship with music into the lives of our musicians and our audiences.

Vancouver Civic Theatres is hosting guided tours of the Orpheum, one of the most beautiful concert halls in North America. The Orpheum, a designated National Heritage Site, was built in 1927. Each year the theatre hosts international musicians, popular concerts and unique events; it is also home to the beloved Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. The 90 minute walking tours are led by the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and reveal many secrets of the iconic theatre's history; including the time Frank Sinatra was almost kicked out of the theatre for breaking dressing room lights while practising his golf swing! Reservations are strongly encouraged as tours frequently fill up in advance. Walk-up patrons will be accepted at the door as space permits. If the cost of a reserved admission is a barrier to your participation, please contact vct.presents@vancouver.ca to explore options for support. As this tour takes place in an operating theatre, some sections of the building may be inaccessible. This program is presented in partnership with the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame and Downtown Van. *Please meet guides at the Granville Street entrance. *Please note that this tour includes walking and stair climbing. *Photography is permitted, though this tour is not suitable for photography groups or clubs. Wheelchair companion seating is configured with a 1:1 arrangement at various locations throughout the orchestra, first balcony and pit. Companion seating is supplied beside the wheelchair. Additional companion seating (subject to availability) may be purchased immediately next to, in front of, or behind all wheelchair areas. To ensure all patrons are seated comfortably, it is recommended that you allow extra time to park and get to your seats before the performance is scheduled to begin. Elevator access available to first balcony and escalator to first and second balconies. Washrooms are located in the main lobby on the east & west ends. The lobby area is completely accessible with a ramp on the east end leading up to the theatre entrance doors. This session will help you create effective written materials by exploring: How to make your messages clear by choosing the right words How to use graphics and layout to make your written materials easier to read How to design written materials for people with low literacy, people whose first language isn’t English and people who are busy! By the end of the workshop, you will have several new ideas on how to communicate successfully through written material. Jan Gourley (She/Her) is a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She has worked in a wide variety of capacities in the early years field from running a home childcare business, to almost every position within local childcare centres, to working as a DECE for a school board. Jan also has previous experience providing technical support, as well as in management roles in other fields of work. Jan has also worked for Literacy Link South Central (LLSC) and Fanshawe College Access Studies where she discovered her passion for helping adult learners further develop the literacy and workplace skills they need to skyrocket their careers. Jan believes in the importance of being a lifelong learner and maintaining a growth mindset… she is always encouraging herself and everyone she works with to recognize that they may not know something, but they just don’t know it yet! Journey back in time at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum, a volunteer-run museum and restoration project located in Fairfield. On Saturdays at 2PM, walk down the path past heritage apple trees and beautiful gardens and step into one of only a few 1860s houses still standing in Victoria. From the bright and airy drawing room to the charming children’s bedroom, the house has been restored with extraordinary care to appear as it did when the Roscoe family called it home. Come experience a unique piece of Victoria's past, with a knowledgeable volunteer as your guide. The Gothic Revival Ross Bay Villa was built in 1865 for Victoria businessman Francis Roscoe and his wife, Anna Letitia Roscoe. Located far away from the bustling streets of the new gold rush town and a short distance from the beach at Ross Bay, the property offered a beautiful countryside home for the Roscoes’ and their growing family. Since the year 2000, the site has undergone a massive transformation through thousands of volunteer hours spent carefully returning the house to it's original appearance inside and out. Admission is $7.50 plus tax per person. Tours must be booked ahead of time. All funds support the volunteer-based Ross Bay Villa Society which owns and operates Ross Bay Villa. Drop in a little early for your Saturday tour for our Ross Bay Villa Gift Shop. This unique vintage store has handcrafted items made by volunteers, plus everything from clothing and books to fine china and unexpected treasures. Stop by between 10-2 and find something special! Please note, donations of smaller, gently used household items are gratefully accepted. Notes: If no tickets are available for your Saturday tour date, this means all tickets released have been sold. As our historic museum is best explored in small groups with a guide, we try not to overcrowd each tour. If you would still like to visit on your preferred date, please arrive shortly before 2PM and speak to a member of our Society. As both artist and gardener, Mimi O’Bonsawin (Pronounced: MEE-MEE O-BON-SA-WIN) draws a deep connection between the two practices: “Making music and growing food are very much the same. They both start with a seed and, with proper care, can grow into a beautiful garden that we all can share. I put intention and love into every seed and every note.” In May 2025, Mimi was awarded Solo Artist of the Year at the Trille Or Awards. Earlier in the year, she toured Australia with performances at the Woodford and Cygnet Folk Festivals. After a winter hard at work on her next album, she spent the summer on the road with her band at Festivals across Canada, including Vancouver Folk Festival, Mission Folk Festival, Francos de Montréal, Festival en Chanson Petite-Vallée and was invited by Elisapie to perform on the TV series Le Grand-Solstice, airing nationally on Ici-Télé & APTN. Mimi performs as a duo with her husband, Ryan Schurman, on drums and percussion, creating an intimate yet uplifting experience. Together, they invite audiences into their universe with a full-band sound that inspires dancing, singing and joy. 2024 brought incredible opportunities, with performances at festivals and arts centres across Canada. Mimi opened for JUNO-award-winning artists, including Aysanabee, Good Lovelies, The East Pointers, and DJ Shub, as well as Beverly Glenn-Copeland at Montreal’s Rialto Theatre. Prairie Rivers Reconciliation Circle (PRRC) invites you to join us at One Arrow First Nation to learn, listen, and reflect through education, culture, and meaningful conversation as we walk the path of truth and reconciliation together. PRRC is a group of more than 50 members from communities such as Warman, Martensville, One Arrow First Nation, Osler, Rosthern, Hepburn, and Saskatoon. The group formed in 2018 to build strong relationships and a long-term commitment toward reconciliation through its vision of neighbouring peoples, organizations and communities working together in a good way to achieve reconciliation. When you register for the in-person event, you will receive a $10 voucher to use at the onsite vendor booths. We want everyone who wishes to attend to feel welcome, so if the in-person ticket price presents a barrier, please reach out to the planning committee at prrcommittee@gmail.com. We would be happy to connect. There will be an opportunity to participate in a 30-minute outdoor land-based learning experience during the lunch break.
