Journey back in time at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum, a volunteer-run museum and restoration project located in Fairfield. On Saturdays at 2PM, walk down the path past heritage apple trees and beautiful gardens and step into one of only a few 1860s houses still standing in Victoria. From the bright and airy drawing room to the charming children’s bedroom, the house has been restored with extraordinary care to appear as it did when the Roscoe family called it home. Built in 1865, the Gothic Revival Ross Bay Villa was built for Victoria businessman Francis Roscoe and his wife, Anna Letitia Roscoe. Located far away from the bustling streets of the upstart gold rush town and a short distance from the beach at Ross Bay, the property offered a bucolic country idyll for the Roscoes’ and their growing family. Admission is $7.50 plus tax per person. Tours must be booked ahead of time. All funds support the volunteer-based Ross Bay Villa Society which owns and operates Ross Bay Villa. Drop in a little early for your Saturday tour for our Ross Bay Villa Gift Shop and Book Nook. This unique vintage store has handcrafted items made by volunteers, plus everything from clothing and books to fine china and unexpected treasures. Stop by between 10-2 and find something special! Please note, donations of smaller, gently used household items are gratefully accepted.

Their music strikes a balance between a fun, party-like atmosphere and a platform for expressing deeper topics, fighting tyrants and the oppressors of this world, one track at a time. With a strong, intense punch in their sound, the production maintains an immediate and warm ambiance. Fans of NOFX, No Use For A Name, Dillinger Four, and Bad Religion will undoubtedly find a connection with Dead Rights.

Join us at Ross Bay Villa for an intimate concert in the fully restored Victorian drawing room of our historic house museum. Enjoy an evening of autumn chamber music played by Alex Nichol on the double bass and Monika Zaborowski on the piano. From familiar favourites to unexpected classics, these musicians will move through a selection of sonatas and other chamber music pieces. Composers include Beethoven, Handel, Vivaldi, and more. There will be a short intermission. This event will be October 16th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $28 and as seating is limited, must be purchased in advance. All proceeds support Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum, a volunteer run and owned historic site in Fairfield. Monika completed an MA in Piano Performance and Musicology from UVic (2013) with a specialization in Chopin Mazurkas. Her musical pursuits further led her to study in Berlin, and then continue doctoral studies at McGill University (2017-2020). Monika was the head editor of the first collected edition of the works of Irena Poldowski, published by Hildegard Publishing Press in 2020 in two volumes. Music projects that keep her busy are running UVic Summer Piano, which is going into its 4th year. Presently she teaches piano and theory in Victoria and thoroughly enjoys sharing the joy of music with her students. For over a quarter of a century Alex performed as an orchestral bassist with the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, the Halle Orchestra (in Manchester , England) and the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. In 1989 Alex left the V.S.O. and moved with his family to the Okanagan. On a small acreage above the village of Naramata he and his wife planted grape vines, made wine and opened for business as Nichol Vineyard Winery in 1993. In 2006 the Nichols sold the vineyard and winery and retired to the West Kootenays where Alex became principal bass of the Symphony of the Kootenays. In 2020 Alex and his wife moved to Victoria.
