FITZGERALDS NIGHTCLUB PRESENTS:New Years Eve w/ ALEJANDRO ESCOVEDO (2 Nights!)seen HERE w/ special guest Nora OConnor$48 General Admission Standing // Reserved Tables Available Alejandro Escovedos New Album ECHO DANCING is an Adventure in LifeNo one has really ever been able to define themselves and their music like singer-songwriter Alejandro Escovedo does. His life in music of all kinds sometimes feels like a swirl through the sky, where his songs point out all the majesty and mystery of how he sees the world. The sounds he makes take him places that he might not even predict, but once there, greatness always follows. Its just the way Escovedo is. It has happened over and over for decades, almost like a fateful agreement he has with the cosmos. There is a good chance it cannot be explained, especially by him.Maybe thats because this is a musician who feels magic, both in himself and the world around him, and is open to the experience of whatever comes his way. It is not always easy, and can have a high demand on how a person lives. But it is the way that Escovedo is always moving forward. On this new album, Alejandro Escovedo has taken a road rarely traveled, which is totally in keeping with how he has lived his life in music. Echo Dancing is an experiment in how to use the past to shape the future. By recording completely new and repurposed versions of songs from his past, Escovedo actually gets a chance to rewrite his own history. Its also an idea that pushes growth into the present, and asks an artist to see themselves anew. I always feel that a well-written song can withstand a lot of abuse, Escovedo says. It is an area of creativity that the man has always honored. Turning a past song inside out leads to discovery of new ideas youmight not have understood about the song, he says. Even lyrical refurbishing has proven helpful and effective. Its like interpreting your own work anew. The songs never seem to be complete. They are always evolving.Grab dinner before the show at BABYGOLD BARBECUEOr enjoy full service dining inside the club when doors open.***PARKING***There is rather limited street parking in the area, we recommend arriving by rideshare, bicycle, or rickshaw. ***AGE RESTRICTIONS***21+, minors admitted with guardian

FITZGERALDS SIDEBAR PRESENTS:BLUE YEARS EVE in SIDEBAR:The Corey Dennison Band w/ special guest Gina Barcal!$15 General Admission / Reserved Tables Available Born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Corey Dennison spent a majority of his childhood moving about Tennessee and Georgia. As a young boy, Corey heard the powerful, soulful sounds of the Blues on late night radio programs and recalls being captivated by the music. He received his first guitar at the age of 6 and began to imitate the music of artists such as Gatemouth Brown, Albert Collins and Albert King. Corey immediately felt a strong connection to Soul music. I just loved the way Soul music made me feel from my head to my toes. I remember humming along to songs from Wilson Pickett, Curtis Mayfield This marked a lasting impression on his musical style and is clearly visible today in his soulful vocals and fiery guitar solos.Corey found his musical calling while hanging out with his harp playing uncle. My Uncle snuck me into clubs where I saw some of the greatest Blues cats of all-time, Albert King, Albert Collins and Junior Wells. This is where it became clear to me; I wanted to be a Blues Man. He spent 12 years honing his skills as a sideman for Carl Weathersby, a mentor beyond the music: Pop has really showed me the real me and have helped me in a lot of ways. Showed me what to do what not to do. I wouldnt know anything if it was not for Carl and my brothers-in-arms. Playing with Weathersby blessed Corey with opportunities to share the stage with such musical greats as The Kinsey Report, Robert Blaine, Chico Banks, The Steepwater Band, Jimmy Johnson, Robert Randolph, Derek Trucks And John Mayer, Gerry Hundt, Nick Moss, Lurrie Bell, Carlos Johnson, Bill Dickens, and Buddy Guy.Grab dinner before the show at BABYGOLD BARBECUE***PARKING***There is rather limited street parking in the area, we recommend arriving by rideshare, bicycle, or rickshaw. ***AGE RESTRICTIONS***21+ Minors admitted with Guardian

FITZGERALDS SIDEBAR PRESENTS:SOUL MESSAGE BAND FREE SHOW! Click Book Now to reserve a table. We always leave room for walk-ins so if you cant find a reservation, dont sweat it, cmon over!Chris Foreman is a masterful musician and heir to the throne occupied by the soulful, bluesy jazz organ legends who were once his influence. Blind at birth, Foreman started playing piano at age five and began formal training at seven. As a teenager he was attracted to the organ sounds of Jack McDuff, Groove Holmes, JimmySmith and Jimmy McGriff. This attraction led Chris to pursue playing jazz on the organ, which he undertook through intensive study of recordings. Unlike many African- American musicians whose musical knowledge begins and is established through the church, Chris didnt start his apprenticeship as a church organist until he was almost twenty years old - well after his jazz roots were established. He has arrived at a most exciting blend of blues-gospel and jazz and has developed a stunning command and range on the instrument. The blend of his sound is evident in his professional experience, which has included work with Hank Crawford, Albert Collins, Bernard Purdie, The Mighty Blue Kings and Deep Blue Organ Trio.Drummer Greg Rockingham began playing when he was just three years old and debuted as a professional musician at age five in his fathers jazz ensemble. An alumnus of the famed Interlochen Arts Academy and Northeastern University, he has won numerous musical awards from the Notre Dame Jazz Festival. Greg has performed or recorded with a wide range of famous names, including the orchestras of Glenn Miller and Guy Lombardo, vocalists Freddie Cole, Patty Page and Jerry Vale and instrumentalists Nat Adderley, Kenny Burrell, Charles Earland, Irene Reid, Ellis Marsalis, Nancy Wilson, and Deep Blue Organ Trio.Lee Rothenberg was born in Philadelphia and started playing guitar at the age of 14 after studying classical piano for 8 years. His obsession with jazz began at age 16 after spending a summer at Interlochen Arts Camp where he devoted many hours listening to Wes Montgomery, Miles Davis, and John Coltrane in the listening library. He moved to Evanston, IL in 2000 to attend Northwestern University where he studied with jazz pianist Mike Kocour. Since his arrival in 2005, guitarist Lee Rothenberg has emerged as an in-demand sideman in the Chicago Jazz Scene. Noted for a style that is deeply rooted in the Jazz Guitar Tradition, Lees playing exhibits the sacred elements of melody, swing, and creativity. Lee has performed as both a leader and sideman at venues such as The Green Mill, Andys, the Jazz Showcase, Pete Millerss, and the Jazz Estate with a venerable list of chicago artists such as Chris Forman, Dennis Carroll, Greg Rockingham, George Fludas, Greg Ward, Dan Trudell, and Bobby Broom. Currently he is working on a quartet record with legendary Multi-Instrumentalist, Ira Sullivan that includes Dennis Carroll on bass, and George Fludas on drums. Stay tuned!! Lee Rothenberg is a confident, groovin player that pulls his own weight!!, Chris Foreman.

Event Information

FITZGERALDS PRESENTS:BEATLES BRUNCH ft. PHIL ANGOTTI & FRIENDS$15/seat reserved tables Brunch Menu by BABYGOLD Phil Angotti is a multi-instrumentalist, singer, and sensitive tough-guy songwriter from Chicagos southside. He rocks your socks off with crazy guitar riffs, makes you cry expressing touching lyrics, and constantly surprises you with the depth of his musical knowledge! Known in Chicago as THE Beatles guy, Phil consistently draws diverse audiences to Beatle shows; first when playing with the Beatle Brothers, now with the Phil Angotti Band, Great Moments in Vinyl, the What4, and as a solo performer. Phil plays the Beatles catalog by heart and from the heart. The years of practice, listening and learning are evident, especially since he is great at taking requests! The Kinks, The Zombies, The Bee-Gees, Nick Drake and Buddy Holly all hold special places in his musical mind too. Phil is the current lead singer and guitar player for Material Issue, a Chicago power-pop band who made it big in the early 90s (they had videos on MTV when that was cool). Now known as Material ReIssue, opening for The Smithereens is one of his favorite moments on stage in fact! Other great moments in Phil include opening for Marshall Crenshaw, Richard Furay (Buffalo Springfield), and Eddie Money, plus the Beatles album shows. The *ahem* experience of this guy is key. His music came out first on vinyl, then cassette, 8-track, cds, then back to vinyl. Through all 14 solo albums Phils melodys shine, blending cool pop grooves with sweet harmonies. Hes proven a commitment to his craft and become one of Chicagos most beloved artists. ***PARKING***There is street parking within a few blocks along roosevelt rd.
