The phenomenal Canadian pianist Louis Lortie returns to Music Toronto for his first appearance in decades with a fascinating program featuring the piano ballade. Popularized in the 19th century, the piano ballade is a single movement work that most often incorporates a dramatic narrative arch. The form is remarkably flexible so while there is a single genre on offer, the emotional depth and variety of the compositions and of Mr. Lortie's performance will astound you. Mr. Lortie enjoys a remarkable international reputation as a recitalist and soloist with orchestras across the world. Don't miss this opportunity to welcome him back to the intimacy of the Jane Mallett Theatre for the first time in a generation or more!

Schoolhouse by Leanna BrodieThe time: 1938. The place: S.S. #1 Jericho School, a one-room schoolhouse in a farming area just outside the fictional village of Bakers Creek. There, a delightful but unmanageable group of children finally meets its matchMelita Linton, an 18-year-old teacher fresh out of Normal School. But Miss Linton soon faces her own challenge in the form of Ewart, a menacing and mysterious juvenile delinquent sent to straighten out on a farm after doing time in Battenville Training School. The play chronicles Miss Lintons struggle to connect with a boy cut off from everyone, including himselfand to persuade a cautious and close-knit community to open its arms to this stranger in their midst.Full of warmth and poignant humour, Schoolhouse evokes a way of life shared by generations of rural North Americans, while exploring timeless themes of exclusion, of compassion, of damage, of hope.Schoolhouseby Leanna BrodieDirected by: Aaron JanStage Manager: Kelsey HowattLighting Design: Brandon GonalvesCostume & Scenic Design: Helen AndroliaProps Design: Kelsey HowattTechnical Director: Paul StaffordFight Director: M. Storyteller Mike Plume makes his way back to the prairies after a year-long absence from the stage.Once the dogged road warrior, travelling from coast to coast, overseas, and across borders, Mike has stepped back to take more time to analyze his place in the music industry. The future aint what it used to be, and every couple of years or so, I think, Welp, thats it. Cheque, please! I manage to convince myself that I wont ever write, record, or tour again. But in the back of my mind, the urge to see the sunrise on a stretch of highway Ive never been on before is too strong to ignore. Every now and then, it seems, the road is in my dreams. 2 Nights of Cult Horror Movies - Cabin Fever EditionTuesday, March 17th THE SHINING2 Nights of Cult Horror: Cabin Fever EditionSnowed in. Cut off. Nowhere to run.Stanley Kubricks The Shining isnt just one of the greatest horror films ever made; its a masterclass in atmosphere and psychological dread. Set deep inside the isolated Overlook Hotel, the film slowly tightens the screws, turning silence, symmetry, and paranoia into pure terror. Every frame is intentional. Every moment lingers. And the tension never lets go.As the opening night of our 2 Nights of Cult Horror: Cabin Fever Edition, The Shining is the perfect way to begin. This is cabin fever at its most haunting, where isolation warps the mind, and the walls themselves feel alive. Seeing it on the big screen, in a dark room, surrounded by fellow horror fans, transforms the experience into something unforgettable. This isnt a jump-scare movie. Its a slow burn that crawls under your skin and stays there long after the credits roll. If youve only watched it at home, youve never truly felt it. And if youve never seen it, theres no better way to experience it than this. Then come back one week later for the chaos.Tuesday, March 24th EVIL DEAD 2 closes out Cabin Fever Edition by cranking the madness to eleven. Where The Shining is chilling and controlled, Evil Dead 2 is unhinged, outrageous, and gloriously over the top. Two nights. Two classics. Two very different kinds of cabin fever. Join us at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum for an evening of historical storytelling. The Roscoe family created a home at Ross Bay Villa during a pivotal time in BC’s history, living here from 1865-1879. But who were they and how do we reconstruct their lives and understand them in the context of Victoria today? In a cozy evening of storytelling, catch a glimpse of the everyday lives of this family, complete with picnics, skating, politics and social calls. Kathryn McAllister, storyteller and President of the Ross Bay Villa Society, explores the story of a family who left all that was familiar for the chance at a better life, and became a part of Victoria’s complex colonial past. March 19th at 7:30pm Tickets are $10 and must be booked in advance. All proceeds support the entirely volunteer based Ross Bay Villa Society, which owns and operates Ross Bay Villa.

Known for seamlessly blending Afro-Cuban rhythms with jazz, soul, pop, and rock, Alex Cuba delivers guitar-driven songs rich with melody and emotion. In an intimate trio format, his acclaimed songwriting and musical chemistry shine, offering a vibrant, groove-forward set that reflects a career spanning international stages and collaborations with artists like Nelly Furtado and Jason Mraz.Sharing the stage is TK (The Artist), a Nigerian-born Afrosoul and jazz-fusion powerhouse who now calls Victoria home.Blending Neo-Soul, Gospel, R often while singing and playing drums simultaneously TK brings infectious energy and rhythmic depth.

Garden Grooves Festival 2026 Night Three closes the three-day festival on Saturday, March 21st, by pushing sound forward, spotlighting artists who thrive at the edges of genre and imagination. From experimental hip-hop and soul-infused production to vibrant Latin-pop energy, this final night captures Garden Grooves fearless approach to curation where innovation, global influence, and artistic risk are centre stage.Headlining the night is Shabazz Palaces, the visionary Seattle-based project led by Ishmael Butler (Digable Planets). Renowned for redefining alternative hip-hop, Shabazz Palaces blends abstract lyricism with Afro-futurist soundscapes, electronic textures, and avant-garde jazz influences. With landmark releases like Black Up, Butlers work has reshaped the boundaries of hip-hop, delivering live performances that are immersive, cerebral, and uncompromising.Joining them is Calgary duo Sargeant X Comrade, whose Polaris-longlisted album Magic Radio fuses lush soul vocals with richly layered hip-hop production, creating music thats both intimate and groove-driven. Opening the night is TrippyCals, a Victoria-based Latin-pop group blending bilingual rap, funk-infused guitar, and modern Latin rhythms.

Journey back in time at Ross Bay Villa Historic House Museum, a volunteer-run museum and restoration project located in Fairfield. On Saturdays at 2PM, walk down the path past heritage apple trees and beautiful gardens and step into one of only a few 1860s houses still standing in Victoria. From the bright and airy drawing room to the charming children’s bedroom, the house has been restored with extraordinary care to appear as it did when the Roscoe family called it home. Come experience a unique piece of Victoria's past, with a knowledgeable volunteer as your guide. The Gothic Revival Ross Bay Villa was built in 1865 for Victoria businessman Francis Roscoe and his wife, Anna Letitia Roscoe. Located far away from the bustling streets of the new gold rush town and a short distance from the beach at Ross Bay, the property offered a beautiful countryside home for the Roscoes’ and their growing family. Since the year 2000, the site has undergone a massive transformation through thousands of volunteer hours spent carefully returning the house to it's original appearance inside and out. Admission is $7.50 plus tax per person. Tours must be booked ahead of time. All funds support the volunteer-based Ross Bay Villa Society which owns and operates Ross Bay Villa. Drop in a little early for your Saturday tour for our Ross Bay Villa Gift Shop. This unique vintage store has handcrafted items made by volunteers, plus everything from clothing and books to fine china and unexpected treasures. Stop by between 10-2 and find something special! Please note, donations of smaller, gently used household items are gratefully accepted. Notes: If no tickets are available for your Saturday tour date, this means all tickets released have been sold. As our historic museum is best explored in small groups with a guide, we try not to overcrowd each tour. If you would still like to visit on your preferred date, please arrive shortly before 2PM and speak to a member of our Society. We will do our best to accomodate you, but your tour slot will not be guaranteed as it is dependent on if another volunteer is available to host a second tour. If so, we can accept cash or etransfer (treasurer@rossbayvila.org) for your ticket. Our historic house museum has been restored to its appearance in the 1860s-70s. Nothing is behind glass! For that reason, children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 6 are no charge. The Villa is walker and wheelchair accessible, but due to the cozy confines of this mid-Victorian house, users of larger mechanized chairs may find the interior rooms more difficult to access. If you have any accesibility needs, please email us at info@rossbayvilla.org for more information.

With six No. 1 singles, including two fresh smashes in 2025 alone, hitmaker Dylan Scott, a rowdy roughneck with a romantic side broke out with the epic triple Platinum devotion of My Girl in 2016 and followed up with scrappy, under the radar consistency. Chart topping heart forward anthems like Hooked, Nobody and New Truck all reached RIAA certified status, but 2025 has launched the crooner into the stratosphere. Posting back to back No. 1s with Gold certified Boys Back Home (with Dylan Marlowe) and Platinum certified This Towns Been Too Good to Us, Scott entered 2025 as the fourth most played country artist of 2025 and continues his hot streak with his current single, Platinum certified What He will Never Have. With nearly 5 billion career streams, legions of fans and countless sold out shows to his credit.
