On her 13th album, Hummingbird Highway, out September 12 on Righteous Babe Records, Williams celebrates the colors she glimpses from her vantage as a touring musician. "I was a kid from the suburbs who listened when her hippie teachers said to get out in the world," Williams muses. Hummingbird Highway is the latest chapter in a richly unfolding story. Drawing on her experience as a playwright, Williams populates her latest album with nuanced characters that come alive in the space of a few minutes. On the title track, Williams sings from the perspective of a child speaking to her peripatetic and sometimes struggling parent. Blooming columbines, china blue teapots, and cinnamon bark number among the "treasures" in her life, despite the "pirates" that she imagines populating her worldly parent’s life. "The pirates can be all sorts of things living inside and outside your head. The child, for better or worse, knows that there is joy, unpredictability, and instability on the home front. She’s rooting for the joy."

Over the last three decades, Kristin Hersh’s prolific career has seen her heralded queen of the alternative release. Returning with a new solo record ‘Clear Pond Road’ released in September 2023, the album is a cinematic road trip; a series of personal vignettes from a fiercely independent auteur, plush with layers of atonal, edgy-dreamy strings and mellotron.   It’s a watershed moment in a career overflowing with creative firsts and inspirational thinking, an elegant piece of personal reportage. It’s a sensuous, life-affirming statement, a very personal memoir; it’s the a blossoming of a true icon of independence.  In 2018 Hersh announced a new partnership with Fire Records that made possible the release of her acclaimed tenth studio album, ‘Possible Dust Clouds’. Since then there’s been new releases from Throwing Muses (‘Sun Racket’, 2020) and 50Foot Wave (‘Black Pearl’, 2022) along with new book ‘Seeing Sideways’ (2022). “One of indie rock’s most fascinating figures” (The Guardian) Hersh has released over 20 solo records, with Throwing Muses and 50FOOTWAVE to date. She is the author of an acclaimed memoir — based on her teenage diary — about a particularly eventful year, titled “Rat Girl” (‘Paradoxical Undressing’ in the UK), which was named #8 on Rolling Stone’s “25 Greatest Rock Memoirs of all time.” She later released her albums ‘Crooked’ (2010), ‘Wyatt at the Coyote Palace’ (2016) and Throwing Muses’ ‘Purgatory/Paradise’ (2013) as groundbreaking books of music, artwork, essays and lyrics. NPR Books said of Hersh’s latest work, ‘Don’t Suck, Don’t Die’ about her friendship with the late Vic Chesnutt, “Not only one of the best books of the year, it’s one of the most beautiful rock memoirs ever written.”   Previously, the juxtaposition of light and dark has been essential to the drama of Throwing Muses and 50 Foot Wave, but this new record is something of a departure: more inward looking. Produced and performed by Hersh, ‘Clear Pond Road’ is quieter yet more outspoken, its inventive musical logic underpinned by the ambience of field recordings.  “Passion sounds less angry here, more grateful, I think,” Kristin says, “sweeter, sadder, and somehow no less alive. Honestly? It’s a love story and its erratic heart rate reflects this. As textured and raunchy as real life songs like these can get, the sonic vocabulary is delicate, so I had to respect that and keep it grounded with car engines and rain in New England, then whistling ducks and wind chimes in New Orleans. Which sounds wistful, like a blurry photograph.”  Currently in the studio working on the next offering from Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh is also preparing for a three month solo tour to celebrate across the UK and Ireland before heading to Australia and New Zealand.

Over the last three decades, Kristin Hersh’s prolific career has seen her heralded queen of the alternative release. Returning with a new solo record ‘Clear Pond Road’ released in September 2023, the album is a cinematic road trip; a series of personal vignettes from a fiercely independent auteur, plush with layers of atonal, edgy-dreamy strings and mellotron.   It’s a watershed moment in a career overflowing with creative firsts and inspirational thinking, an elegant piece of personal reportage. It’s a sensuous, life-affirming statement, a very personal memoir; it’s the a blossoming of a true icon of independence.  In 2018 Hersh announced a new partnership with Fire Records that made possible the release of her acclaimed tenth studio album, ‘Possible Dust Clouds’. Since then there’s been new releases from Throwing Muses (‘Sun Racket’, 2020) and 50Foot Wave (‘Black Pearl’, 2022) along with new book ‘Seeing Sideways’ (2022). “One of indie rock’s most fascinating figures” (The Guardian) Hersh has released over 20 solo records, with Throwing Muses and 50FOOTWAVE to date. She is the author of an acclaimed memoir — based on her teenage diary — about a particularly eventful year, titled “Rat Girl” (‘Paradoxical Undressing’ in the UK), which was named #8 on Rolling Stone’s “25 Greatest Rock Memoirs of all time.” She later released her albums ‘Crooked’ (2010), ‘Wyatt at the Coyote Palace’ (2016) and Throwing Muses’ ‘Purgatory/Paradise’ (2013) as groundbreaking books of music, artwork, essays and lyrics. NPR Books said of Hersh’s latest work, ‘Don’t Suck, Don’t Die’ about her friendship with the late Vic Chesnutt, “Not only one of the best books of the year, it’s one of the most beautiful rock memoirs ever written.”   Previously, the juxtaposition of light and dark has been essential to the drama of Throwing Muses and 50 Foot Wave, but this new record is something of a departure: more inward looking. Produced and performed by Hersh, ‘Clear Pond Road’ is quieter yet more outspoken, its inventive musical logic underpinned by the ambience of field recordings.  “Passion sounds less angry here, more grateful, I think,” Kristin says, “sweeter, sadder, and somehow no less alive. Honestly? It’s a love story and its erratic heart rate reflects this. As textured and raunchy as real life songs like these can get, the sonic vocabulary is delicate, so I had to respect that and keep it grounded with car engines and rain in New England, then whistling ducks and wind chimes in New Orleans. Which sounds wistful, like a blurry photograph.”  Currently in the studio working on the next offering from Throwing Muses, Kristin Hersh is also preparing for a three month solo tour to celebrate across the UK and Ireland before heading to Australia and New Zealand.

Bad Company formed in London in 1973 by singer Paul Rodgers and drummer Simon Kirke (both ex-Free), guitarist Mick Ralphs (ex-Mott the Hoople) and bassist Boz Burrell (ex-King Crimson). Kirke was the only member to remain throughout the band’s entire run, while he and Ralphs were the only members to appear on every studio album. Peter Grant, who managed the rock band Led Zeppelin, also managed Bad Company until 1982. Bad Company enjoyed great success throughout the 1970s. Their first three albums, Bad Company (1974), Straight Shooter (1975) and Run with the Pack (1976), reached the top five in the album charts in both the UK and the US. Many of their singles and songs, such as “Bad Company”, “Can’t Get Enough” (1974), “Feel Like Makin’ Love” (1975), “Shooting Star” (1975), “Burnin’ Sky” (1977) and “Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy” (1979), remain staples of classic rock radio. They have sold 20 million RIAA-certified albums in the US and 40 million worldwide. Though they initially disbanded in 1982, Bad Company reunited on many occasions to record and tour until 2019. In 2023, Kirke revealed that they would not continue as a band following the development of Rodgers’ recent health issues. Earlier this year Bad Co was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Enter BAD CO – The Legacy For seven years Robert Hart was the lead singer of Bad Co in its classic rock era. He has also played many years with The Jones Gang with Kenny Jones of The Faces. and currently with Manfred Mann’s Earthband. Dave ‘Bucket’ Colwell, guitarist, spent 12 years in Bad Co, was a member of Humble Pie for several years recording, co-writing and producing the album Back on Track, The Jones Gang, ASAP and many other bands. During 1992, Hart was approached by Mick Ralphs and Simon Kirke and asked if he would like to join them as the third lead vocalist for Bad Company, following Paul Rodgers and Brian Howe. Hart performed with Bad Company, touring the world including the US and Canada. In July 1994 a contract was drawn up by Alliance Artists and Legend Management and signed by the then Bad Company line up, Mick Ralphs, Simon Kirke, Robert Hart, Dave “Bucket” Colwell and Rick Wills. In 1995 a self-produced Bad Company album was released, Company of Strangers, with Hart who bore a vocal similarity to Paul Rodgers. It contained four tracks self-penned or co-written by Hart. The band made a promotional tour of the US with Bon Jovi. In 1996 another Bad Co album, Stories Told and Untold featured Hart and contained seven new compositions and seven acoustic versions including ‘Can’t Get Enough’ and ‘Ready For Love’. Hart was also lead vocalist on three live albums between 1994 and 2001. In March 2020 he was on tour in Germany with “Rock meets Classic” featuring Alice Cooper. During the Brian Howe period the album, Holy Water, was released. The album was enormously successful both critically and commercially, attaining Top 40 and platinum status by selling more than one million copies. Holy Water was the band’s first album on the Atlantic subsidiary Atco. The album spun off the singles: “If You Needed Somebody” the title track “Holy Water” and “Walk Through Fire”. “Holy Water” also hit No. 1 for 2 weeks on the AOR charts with “If You Needed Somebody” reaching No. 2. In 1990 Dave “Bucket” Colwell joined Bad Co as guitarist at the request of Mick Ralphs who sat out for most of the Holy Water tour. Their subsequent tour, supported by Damn Yankees, was one of the top five grossing tours of 1991. As well as touring for over a decade, Colwell recorded Here Comes Trouble, What You Hear is What You Get, Company of Strangers and Stories Told and Untold, co-writing the last two. He then went on to record Merchants of Cool with Paul Rodgers in 2002.  Hart and Colwell are joined by Chris Childs on bass, Thunder and Tyketto, and John Lingwood, Manfred Mann’s Earthband and Roger Chapman, on drums. Fans can expect many of the classic songs spanning Bad Company’s repertoire; ‘Ready for Love’, ‘Can’t get Enough’, ‘Rock and Roll Fantasy’, the list goes on. It promises to be a night to remember!

Fresh from supporting Greg Davies on his ‘Full Fat Legend’ tour, Barry brings his own show to The Wardrobe in Leeds. Having become a father quite late in life, in all honestly, he’s just delighted to be away for a few days to get some good sleep (although he won’t be telling his partner that and he hopes she won’t read this. Why would she? She’s not going to be booking tickets to see him in Leeds). Embarrassingly, he’s got a racist dog, so a break from constantly apologising in the local park is also a bonus.  Oh, and he’s furious his parents chose the name Barry! And like the wind, I Love People comes from parts unknown. Need a ride? Long as you’re ready to find yourself wherever it dies down, jump on!  Despite all the complications of life here in Central Casting 2025, Cory and the boys are happier than ever to be playing music at its most beautiful for ALL the people: eminent hipsters bellied up to the bar alongside the ropers, riders and all the other jokers for whom freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose or do. Followers of Cory’s twin arcs as solo singer and Wand member will be intrigued to learn that the lineup here is the same band that recorded last year’s Vertigo. Yep, Wand — their Masters of Unbounded Space robes traded in for Wrecking Crew trucker’s caps, as they reel out licks both tasty and smooth, like chopsmeisters of yore. That’s Robbie Cody co-producing behind the desk, Evan Backer playing bass and arranging strings and horns, Evan Burrows on drums and percussion and Cory on piano, guitars and voices and songs.  Travelin’ light and puttin' up dry, I Love People bugs out to the what-the-fuck?-ness on the edge of town spied now and again on Cory’s previous solos, Pale Horse Rider and Western Cum. Here though, the simmering shades of Rider’s quiet horror and the bursts of Cum’s cartoonish, gun-slinger bravado have given way to an ever-more impartial view of life on the ground, tinted in gossamer sepia and other nostalgic tones. Written over the past several annums, Cory’s songs ensnare the 70s singer-songwriter in a feedback loop, drawing additional inspiration from the indelible everyman melodies of the American Songbook. With gilded threads and emboldened needling, I Love People’s songs are rendered with immediacy and a deep-pile Hollywood production sound that radiates affluence and comfort, even in the darkest and coldest nights way out beyond the range of any signal.  Placed and displaced among gorgeously outfitted musical arrangements, I Love People’s people are kin to their threadbare folk forbears. Song by song, their occupations, social positions and dispositions unravel like silk into the wind. While they perform, Cory loiters backstage, gently pulling at the curtain to reveal silly details hidden in plain sight inside America’s broken heart. It doesn’t come as a surprise, and it’s not strictly funny, either: a giddy mash of the two, the delirium that comes from finding what you think is "true" is someone else's "false." When maps won’t help you find out where you are anymore, you’re as normal and horrible as the next person, playing out your days in a place of constant activity with your parallax view progressing invisibly into a limbo beyond the horizon. That’s your freedom for you, and it might be more sad, more terrifying — if it weren’t so much fun!  Even though their subject won’t stop squirming, Cory and his merry men have constructed a timeless still life with I Love People, simply by living for the fun and love of it all. Just like the rest of us!

For more than a decade, the band has released music with a rich history of focused scathing attacks on world politics yet this time around they decided to look more inwardly. Concentrating on the broad influences that each of the five members (Scott Picking - Vocals, Jimbo Aglony - Guitar & Vocals, Jordan Mann - Guitar & Vocals, Ben Maz - Bass, Matt Verrell - Drums, keys & Vocals) bring to the band, they allow these to breathe and lend to an album full of collaboration and brotherhood. Brudenell Presents... With support from - Nathan Bowles My Days of 58 is the eighth Bill Callahan album, his first since 2022. The twelve tunes here open uncanny depths of expression as Bill continues to blaze one of the most original songwriting-and-performance trails out there. With My Days of 58, he applies the living, breathing energies of his live shows to the studio process, sharpening his slice-of-life portraiture to cut deeper than ever before. The core musicians featured on My Days of 58 is the group that toured for 2022’s REALITY: guitarist Matt Kinsey, saxophonist Dustin Laurenzi and drummer Jim White, whose synergy was evident in 2024’s live Resuscitate!. This showed Bill, as he puts it, “that they could handle anything I threw at them,” adding:  “Improv/unpredictability/the unknown is the thing that keeps me motivated to keep making music. It’s all about listening to yourself and others. A lot of the best parts of a recording are the mistakes — making them into strengths, using them as springboards into something human.” With this in mind, Bill prepared the songs with each player separately. Taking a note from songwriter, fan and friend Jerry DeCicca, he recorded the basic tracks for all but one song in a duo with Jim White. Meanwhile, he rehearsed with Matt, guitar to guitar, while asking Dustin to make horn charts for a few songs. Bill:  “I usually just sing a melody to a horn player or let them try a few takes and go from there. This time I thought, why not get some of the record charted out. There’s always room for spontaneity on top of that. And we did indeed throw some off the cuff stuff on top of the charted horns in a couple cases where they weren’t fully doing what I wanted. With this record I kept thinking of it as a ‘living room record.’ I’m not talking about fidelity at all here. Living room attitude. Living room vibe. Not too loud, not otherworldly. I asked for the horns to be relaxed like someone on the couch playing, not a blast from heaven or hell.” For more spontaneity and human color, Bill called up several other players: Richard Bowden on fiddle, whom he’d seen playing with Terry Allen and loved; pianist Pat Thrasher; bassist Chris Vreeland; and trombonist Mike St. Clair. About pedal steel player Bill McCullough, who he knew from Knife in the Water, Bill says this: “He has a real abstract approach to an abstract instrument — he’s a photographer (shot the front and back cover) and sees the steel in the same way as apertures and f-stops — foreground and mid ground and background — blurry and sharp. That’s how I’ve always seen the steel so it’s exciting to share that. But hobo stew is always the idea — throwing together who I have at hand instead of following a recipe. I’m always learning. I know very little after all these years. I go by gut mostly, but sometimes forget all the possible considerations to consider.  The goal of every record at the recording part of the process is to get thrown out of Eden. Every session starts in Eden but you have to get out of there at some point.”

Stereo MC’s are probably best known for their international Top 20 hit single ‘Connected’, which was released in 1992 and taken from the ‘Connected’ album of the same year. The album reached #2 in the UK Album Chart and also contained the aforementioned hits ‘Step It Up’, ‘Creation’, and ‘Ground Level’, and led to the group winning two Brit Awards for Best Group and Best Album in 1994. Being childhood friends and neighbours, Rob and Nick formed Stereo MC’s in the mid-eighties, with the pair inspired to make music by their combined love of early hip-hop, funk and electronic music. The Stereo MC’s initially pressed their first 12” vinyl and started their own independent record label called G Street Records with Kiss DJ Richie Rich and budding entrepreneur Jon Baker.
