Ramses and the Pharaoh’s Gold: The Exhibition

Mon, Apr 27 at 12:30 PM
Neon at Battersea Power Station

Event Information

Direct from the Egyptian Museum Cairo. Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold brings 180 priceless treasures to London for the first and only time, in an exhibition that explores the extraordinary life, power and legacy of Egypt’s greatest pharaoh. Transporting you from the temples of Abu Simbel to the Valley of the Kings, the exhibition’s crowning masterpiece is the Coffin of Ramses II — a once-in-a-generation opportunity to see the pharaoh’s original sarcophagus. Discover gold masks and silver coffins from the royal tombs of Tanis, beautifully preserved animal mummies and amulets, dazzling jewellery alongside colossal sculptures, carvings and stone heads. Following acclaimed, sold-out runs in Tokyo, Paris, San Francisco and Sydney, Ramses and The Pharaohs’ Gold: The Exhibition runs in London at NEON, Battersea Power Station from 28 February 2026. ABOUT RAMSES Builder, Warrior, God…King Ramses II, widely known as Ramses the Great, ruled Egypt for nearly 67 years and remains history’s most iconic pharaoh. Known for his extensive monument-building, military strategy and diplomacy, and a vast dynasty of more than 100 children, he also negotiated the world’s first recorded peace treaty after the Battle of Kadesh. So powerful was his reign, that the nine pharaohs who followed him all adopted the name of Ramses to emulate his strength and vision. This exhibition invites you to witness the rise of a ruler who sought not only to command an empire, but to secure his immortality for millennia to come. Enhance your visit with optional add-ons, including an immersive VR journey and a multimedia audio guide narrated by leading historian and broadcaster Dan Snow, providing expert commentary and deeper historical context throughout the exhibition. Moth Club

Event Information

Alexis Taylor is one of the UK’s most distinctive singer-songwriters. With each release outside of pop giants Hot Chip, he has moved effortlessly between intimate recital music (2016’s Piano), improvised music with About Group, avant-electronica (2018’s Beautiful Thing) and chamber pop (2021’s Silence).  He continues to be as relevant as ever, having just celebrated 25 years with Hot Chip. As well as significant milestones, Taylor remains a prolific producer, remixer and collaborator, appearing on key releases this year from HAAi and Superpitcher, remixing Paul Weller and linking up with French touch pioneer Fred Falke & Zen Freeman (Ampersounds). A singular voice, he’s built a substantial body of solo work over the years. But his seventh release, ‘Paris In The Spring’, feels like his magnum opus.  Catch him at MOTH club on 27 April to hear the music live.

Masheena

Masheena

Mon, Apr 27 at 6:30 PM
Audio

Event Information

The history of MASHEENA dates back to the early 2000s, when Luis, Tarjei and Ole agreed to start a Thin Lizzy coverband after more than a few beers one night. That band never materialized, but the guys kept active over the years in other projects like ABBATH, ROYAL ROOSTER, LOST AT LAST, ILTI MILTA, MEELODI, ODISEA 4TET and ST SATAN. After reigniting a smoldering fire, mellowed by time and sober expectations after spending half a lifetime in rehearsal rooms, and against better judgment, in 2021 Luis sent a few demos to Tarjei who literally had to dig out his bass from the basement after having sworn to never play in an original band again. The legend ARMAGEDDA, known from IMMORTAL’s debut album, the ABBATH-fronted “I” and DEMONAZ’s solo album joined together with string virtuoso Ole rehearsing the songs in a barn in the outskirts of town transformed into a rehearsal cave. Rather than re-inventing music itself, the purpose of MASHEENA is to share the joy and love of hard rock. The intended EP with songs from the demos quickly grew to a full album. Musically, Masheena are inspired by both the sunny and shady grooves of the 70s, the shameless hedonism of 80s hard rock and heavy metal, as well as the jagged riffs and darker vibes of the 90s alternative rock and metal scenes. The debut album “West Coast Hard Rock” was released in 2023 to critical acclaim and good streaming numbers, 2024 saw two non-album singles and a headlining tour of the EU/UK, and the addition of new guitar player HEINE HEGGERNES (LOST AT LAST, HEAVY METAL KINGS) and new drummer MARTIN HOLMES (POPIUM, SYLVIA WANE), and most important the recording of a follow-up album at The Machine Shop, Dripping Springs, Texas, USA with legendary producer Machine.

Event Information

AGMP Presents XTC's legendary drummer, Terry Chambers, is back on the road with his band EXTC (named and approved by XTC frontman, Andy Partridge). Emerging out of the post-punk and new-wave explosion of the late 70s, XTC experienced global success touring with the likes of The Police and Talking Heads. Sadly, their legions of loyal fans would be left in limbo when in 1982 XTC stopped touring, becoming a studio-based entity. EXTC were formed in 2019 by XTC's drummer Terry Chambers, performing classic XTC material such as Making Plans For Nigel, Senses Working Overtime, Mayor of Simpleton, Generals and Majors, Sgt. Rock (Is Going To Help Me), Love on a Farmboy's Wages and many more. An AGMP Concerts presentation.

Event Information

Please Please You & Brudenell Presents... With support from - The Crystal Teardrop 14+ (under 18s to be accompanied by an adult) LOVE with Johnny Echols sees Arthur Lee’s longest serving band set to tour the UK performing the classic songs from Love’s first three albums Love, Da Capo, Four Sail and of course the timeless Forever Changes. 2026 also marks the 60th anniversary of their debut album and the release of its follow-up Da Capo. This year Rhino will release a five-disc vinyl box set (containing the first four albums and a disc of rarities) with a liner essay written by David Fricke, formerly of Rolling Stone magazine. This isn’t just a nostalgia trip – their shows are drawing in an increasingly younger audience as teens and students are discovering the timeless music produced by these 60s legends performed by a band that is truly on top of its game. Joining Johnny Echols on stage is Baby Lemonade who from 1993 until Arthur’s death in 2006 performed as his band and became an essential part of the renaissance of LOVE’s music. This iteration of LOVE saw many sold-out tours, as well as back-to-back Glastonbury performances and an appearance on Later with Jools Holland. TBA

Event Information

We're kicking off Varsity 2026 with a bang: it's the Varsity Colour Run! Returning again for 2026 after a sold-out edition last year, the Varsity Colour Run is a roughly 3km untimed run, jog, or walk around the University of Leeds campus, and along the way you'll get doused in coloured powder, finishing the course covered in different colours! Tickets are available to all University of Leeds students and staff. The event will include a warm up for all participants, as well as a mass dye throw to get you ready for the course. Tickets are limited and expected to sell out, so get yours early to avoid missing out! Due to the amount of people running, participants will set off in three separate waves. Make sure to choose the correct wave when you buy your ticket: Wave 1: Arrive at 5:30pm Wave 2: Arrive at 6pm Wave 3: Arrive at 6:30pm Each person buying a ticket needs to sign a health and safety waiver and fill out medical information, so tickets are limited to one per person. You will not be able to buy tickets on behalf of someone else. Come dressed in appropriate exercise clothing and footwear. This means ready to run and be active, but also clothes that you do not mind getting dirty or dye on. Although the dye is water soluble, we recommend you consider your clothing choices. In the event of adverse weather on the day, LUU may cancel or reschedule this event. Participants will be notified if this is the case.

Pictish Trail

Mon, Apr 27 at 7:30 PM

Event Information

Please Please You & Brudenell Presents... Pictish Trail, AKA Johnny Lynch, has just completed work on a brand-new album — LIFE SLIME — a sticky, shimmering swirl of sound and oooze (both metaphorical and literal). To celebrate, he returns to the stage in 2026 accompanied by his full live band. These shows bring the new songs to life in bold, expansive form — rhythmic, euphoric and immersive, balancing motorik pulse with warped pop melody and raw emotional release. Expect tenderness, weirdness, and a generous dollop of goo. Based on the Isle of Eigg in the Scottish Hebrides, Pictish Trail is known for his wildly inventive electro-acoustic psych-pop. His 2022 album Island Family, his third for London’s Fire Records, drew acclaim from The Observer, The Times, Mojo, Uncut, Loud & Quiet, and BBC 6 Music. It was followed in autumn 2024 by Follow Footsteps — an EP of reworked Island Family tracks released via his own Lost Map Records, in conjunction with Fire. Recasting the euphoric-bucolic psychedelia of ‘Island Family’, ‘Melody Something’ and ‘Nuclear Sunflower Swamp’ through a softer filter — and complemented by a pair of incidental instrumentals — Lynch discovered delicately kaleidoscopic new resonance in the material. Pictish Trail’s earlier albums Secret Soundz Vols. 1 & 2 (2008/2013) were gloriously eclectic slices of lo-fi folk-pop, later reissued on deluxe double-vinyl by Moshi Moshi in 2014. His third album Future Echoes (2016) received widespread acclaim and was shortlisted for the Scottish Album of the Year (SAY Award), winning the public vote, before being reissued by Fire in 2018. His fourth album, Thumb World, was released by Fire in 2020. Pictish Trail has toured the world as both headliner and support for the likes of Belle & Sebastian, Pavement, Mogwai, Sea Power, and KT Tunstall. He’s performed at major festivals including Glastonbury (Park Stage), Field Day, Camp Bestival, Deer Shed, Celtic Connections, Blue Dot, the Edinburgh Fringe, and every single edition of Green Man Festival (22 and counting). Outside his own music, Johnny is a key figure in the UK’s independent music scene. Through Lost Map Records, he has championed a diverse and idiosyncratic roster — helping to elevate artists such as Rozi Plain, Alabaster dePlume, Seamus Fogarty, Bas Jan, Callum Easter, and Free Love.

Milkweed

Tue, Apr 28 at 7:30 PM
Brudenell Social Club

Event Information

Brudenell Presents... With support from - The Worm Milkweed describe their sound as slacker-trad, which is both true and somehow insufficient. For three years Milkweed have refined a formula – taking existing source material (a folklore journal, a book on Welsh myths, another on bronze age human remains and most recently Thomas Kinsella’s masterfully stark translation of the Táin Bó Cúailnge), cutting up the words and feeding them through a woodchipper of lo-fi production and experimental folk music. On the face of it their musical concerns are transatlantic – they follow the rich creative line that runs between British traditional music and the songs and tunes of the eastern United States. In reality their scope is global, and rooted in deep time, with influences from prehistory bleeding into a troubled and troubling modern era. As a result their music doesn’t sit easily anywhere, but ricochets between bewitching folk music and disconcerting hauntological experimentation.

Event Information

Brudenell Presents... With support from - Kiran Leonard My New Band Believe, led by Cameron Picton, bassist and sometime frontman of black midi, with whom he practiced an explosive form of musical world-building, weaving complex storytelling through thrilling passages of controlled chaos. The moniker serves as an open invitation, a subtle nod to listeners willing to meet the music on its own terms, to reap the rewards of taking a flying leap into the dark. Picton leads his band so that each track forms, scatters and re-groups, the uplift of one song crashing head-long into the rush of another. Inspired by Bert Jansch's hypnotic, hard-driving guitar, Judee Sill's panoramic pop, and the terrifying possibility of dance music, My New Band Believe is both all-encompassing and constantly in flux.https://www.mynewbandbelieve.com/

Event Information

Formed in 2020 in Dearborn, Michigan, Prostitute is an experimental post-punk and Arab rock band. Born out of the isolation of the COVID-19 lockdown, the band’s debut album, Attempted Martyr, was written in the midst of global and personal turmoil, capturing the zeitgeist of a world unraveling. A loose concept record, it chronicles the rise and fall of a doomed zealot whose pursuit of holy vengeance spirals into a psychotic orgy of violence, greed, and lust.

Tue, Apr 28 at 7:30 PM
The Cluny

Event Information

One of the great success stories of the 80’s, arrived on the dancehall scene and swiftly remodelled it in his own image. Although numerous DJ’s and vocalist would rise and fall during this decade, Levy was one of the few with staying power, and he continued releasing massive hits well into the 90’s. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, as a youngster, Barrington Levy formed the Mighty Multitude with his cousin Everton Dacres. They started off playing the sound systems and cut their first single, “My Black Girl,” in 1977. All of 14, Levy broke out his own the next year and recorded his debut solo single, A Long Time Since We Don’t Have No Love.” It didn’t have much of an impact, however the teen’s appearances in the dancehalls were eagerly awaited events. It was at one of these that Levy met former singer turned producer Junjo Lawes and Mew York-based producer Hyman “Jah Life” Wright. The pair took the youth into King Tubby’s studio, accompanied by the Roots Radics, and recorded a clutch of cuts. The first fruits of this union were “Ah Yah We Deh,” quickly followed by “Looking My Love”, and “ Wedding Ring Aside.” Success was immediate, but it was the mighty “Collie Weed” that really cemented the teen’s hold of dancehall.  Utilising old roots rhythms revitalized by the Radics, and giving the songs a hard, but danceable edge, Lawes and Levy together helped establish a whole new dancehall sound.  Barrington Levy continues to tour extensively, selling out shows all over the world. He is currently working in an album which will be titled “Its About Time” and he has said it will be his last. This album will feature artist like Damion Marley, Buji Banton, Beres Hammond, Heavy D and a lot more surprises. He expresses love and appreciation to all his fans across the world, and looks forward to seeing you in future events. This event is 16 and over. Any ticket holder unable to present valid identification indicating that they are at least 16 years of age will not be admitted to this event, and will not be eligible for a refund.

Event Information

The Crescent & The Black Swan Folk Club presents... With support from - Blair Dunlop *This is a seated show with all seated unreserved* Pioneering singer, songwriter and guitarist John Smith has been at the forefront of British folk and roots music for twenty years. He has amassed over 125 million Spotify streams and played his songs all over the world. He cut his teeth opening for the late, great John Martyn, and has since worked with a host of artists including Sarah Jarosz, the Milk Carton Kids, Patty Griffin, Joan Baez, David Gray, Tom Jones and Jackson Browne.  As he marks his 20th anniversary in music this October, John’s new release Gatherings celebrates, revisits, and reimagines songs from his first three albums, with brand new interpretations of his own and audience favourites from over 2,000 live shows. Pre-save Gatherings here: https://slinky.to/Gatherings Reflecting on these treasured compositions, John said: “I’ve learnt as time goes on that the songwriter isn’t necessarily in charge of the songs. Sometimes it feels as if it’s the other way round, that a song will reveal itself fully when it’s ready to be sung.” Gatherings features guest appearances from Lisa Hannigan, The Staves, Siobhan Miller, and Dan Mangan (all on vocals), Adam Levy (guitar) and Nick Pini (bass). It was produced by John and mixed by Ryan Freeland (Bonnie Raitt, Aimee Mann, Joe Henry, Ray LaMontagne).  First single “Salty and Sweet” (featuring Lisa Hannigan) is out now, about which John shared: “One morning in 2010, I woke up with this song in my head, sung in Lisa’s voice. The thing is, I didn’t yet know Lisa. I met her a little while after and told her about it. She told me that I should sing it myself, but she’d be happy to duet. This song is the one people always shout out for, it gets the biggest singalong at the end of a show. I wanted to record a version with just Lisa and I in the studio, no frills, as if we were sharing a mic in a room full of people.” Looking back on a remarkable 20 years, in John’s own words…. "I went self-employed in October 2005 after a gig at Ullapool Guitar Festival that paid as much as a week at my four part-time jobs. Back then, I was working all day and playing every night in any pub, restaurant, or cinema foyer in Liverpool that would have me. All I had was my six-string and a handful of songs. Fast forward a few months, when out of nowhere I was offered a support slot for John Martyn. Suddenly I’m on tour! I found my calling on the road. Some two thousand shows later, here I am trying to make sense of it all. I was excited by the opportunity to re-record songs that have grown and changed over the years. To be honest, they change as soon as you leave the studio and get on stage; but I realise now that a few were perhaps recorded too soon, before they were fully formed. Others just feel more comfortable now that I’ve lived with them for a long time, like old friends. I took the chance to gather these songs and record them as I hear them now.  These songs carried me everywhere through the years. They took me to places and introduced me to people I could never have expected to find. Along the way, I’ve met so many great musicians who have become true friends. I’m fortunate to have some of my favourites join me on this record – Lisa Hannigan, The Staves, Siobhan Miller, and Dan Mangan all contribute vocals, while Adam Levy plays a guitar solo as if he were singing. Nick Pini joins on bass, alongside a small ensemble lending colour to this imagined landscape. Finally, Ryan Freeland kindly agreed to mix the album, working his magic in vivid brushstrokes. Gatherings is a ten-song selection of audience favourites, revisited and reimagined, for all the people in the crowd who have stuck with me through the years; but also an opportunity to show these songs to a new audience." 'Smith's voice is a rare and deeply soulful combination of granite and velvet’ Sunday Times

Wandering Oak presents Kiiōtō

Tue, Apr 28 at 7:30 PM
Cluny 2

Event Information

Kiiōtō is the love-child of Lou Rhodes, Mercury-nominated singer/songwriter and founder member of Lamb, and multi-platinum songwriter and keyboardist Rohan Heath. On the back of their 2024 debut album, ‘As Dust We Rise’, Kiiōtō’s second album, Black Salt, out April 2026, Whilst ‘As Dust We Rise’ took its starting point from a road trip the duo took in Louisiana, ‘Black Salt’ draws from a wider palette; looking inwards at their relationship with one another and then boldly outwards to the many facets of their interface with the outside world. Debut single, Butterfly, is a dark and brooding critique of a narcissist. Its prowling bass line, angular Rhodes chords and bell motif setting the mood. Zero Gravity, in contrast, reflects upon the transformational experience of orbiting earth, recounted in Samantha Harvey’s Booker Prize winning novel “Orbital”; Little Axe tells of the challenges of raising young men amidst the threat of violence in urban life; White Noise decries the hold of social media on the modern mind, and Lost Map echoes the somewhat surprising results of DNA tests the couple took. In all, Heath’s arrangements are spare and bold, leaning into jazz and old soul textures but, all the while, leaving Rhodes’s haunting vocal true room to breathe. Written in the couple’s home studio in London, ‘Black Salt’ features guest appearances from a melting pot of musicians, notably the Jazz trumpeter Byron Wallen, Amy Winehouse’s guitarist Hawi Gondwe, Corrine Bailey Rae’s drummer Mykey Wilson and even some impromptu guitar by the one and only David Arnold. The resulting album is impossible to define by genre, skipping between jazz, torch song, broken beat and guitar-driven old soul, all on a backbone of Fender Rhodes, piano, Hammond organ, glockenspiel and tambura. Listening to ‘Black Salt,’ it’s evident this wasn’t the easiest of journeys, with many songs lost along the way or put on ice. But, as Heath says: ‘It was precisely out of conflict and tension that Black Salt was born. Sometimes it felt like two stars colliding; a new star borne of chaos and heat, brighter than the sum of those destroyed.’ “Rohan would often give me titles I couldn’t imagine writing a song about”, Lou adds, “but it was in that process of pushing me outside my comfort zone, that these songs took their strength” This event is 16 and over. Willi Carlisle

Willi Carlisle

Wed, Apr 29 at 7:30 PM
Cluny 2

Event Information

Folksinger Willi Carlisle holds tight the conviction that love is bigger than hate, and no-one is expendable. Carlisle’s music has always been a dance between absurdity, spectacle, and philosophy. On his fourth studio album, Winged Victory, Carlisle returns with his signature blend of traditionally-rooted folk music and kaleidoscope of oddball characters to confer with his core tenets in more overt and provocative ways.  “These songs feel poised on the edge of the apocalypse, or at least at the beginning of a great transformation in America,” Carlisle says. “During this borrowed time, the weirdos, cowboys, and dreamers in these songs dare to love, and often pay for it with blood.”  Carlisle delivers Victory as the next chapter in his long-running direct address to the hope that by understanding our collective suffering, we might be free of it. He’s intent on creating art and a well-rounded life in a broken world. The idea began with 2022’s Peculiar, Missouri when Carlisle proclaimed “your heart’s a big tent, everybody gets in.” After gathering together all the world’s weirdos and misfits under the big tent, with 2024’s Critterland, Carlisle let them loose into the world. Now, on Winged Victory, they speak for themselves, unencumbered by social expectations.   This event is 16 and over. Any ticket holder unable to present valid identification indicating that they are at least 16 years of age will not be admitted to this event, and will not be eligible for a refund.

Event Information

With exceptional musicianship and boundless energy, Granny’s Attic are going from strength to strength. Cohen Braithwaite-Kilcoyne (melodeon, anglo concertina, vocals), George Sansome (guitar, vocals) and Lewis Wood (violin, vocals) have honed their skills touring the UK and Europe since 2009. They are much loved by audiences up and down the country, with bookings everywhere from Cambridge Folk Festival to Cecil Sharp House.  The trio have been heralded for their lively performances and skilled delivery of traditional material, playing with verve, energy and their own inimitable style. Though grounded in tradition, they are keen to push new boundaries by exploring fresh approaches and writing their own compositions. In October 2021, they released The Brickfields, an instrumental collection that saw them reach new heights as both composers and performers. This was followed up in 2025 by Cold Blows the Wind, an album of largely traditional material which went down a storm with reviewers and audiences alike.  Described by KLOF Magazine as “one of the most exciting and accomplished English folk acts on the scene right now”, this outstanding trio can hold audiences in the palm of their hand. Kids loving rugby is what inspires us, and through our Rugby Camps programmes we: CHALLENGE young people to set lofty goals and build up their skills to achieve them. PROVIDE an enjoyable and unforgettable experience. HELP young people to develop skills on and off the pitch. IMPROVE critical skills, such as leadership, problem-solving, and teamwork. Explore the Northampton Saints junior masterclasses—a dynamic and concise learning opportunity that offers a glimpse into our exclusive masterclass sessions!   The following unique junior masterclasses are available: Intro to Tackling - Under 8's - In this exciting skills clinic, we’ll focus on the new skill of tackling ahead of moving into their new age group next season. We’ll explore tackle techniques from various angles, drawing inspiration from our senior players who have honed their skills throughout the season. Our goal? To develop the player that misses the fewest tackles!  Intro to Rucking - Under 9's - In this skills clinic, we’ll deconstruct the ruck into smaller components, unveiling techniques and principles employed by our senior players. It’s a fantastic chance for our under 9s to explore this new skill and build confidence in this critical aspect of the game. Rucking serves as a potent weapon—whether it’s about retaining possession or pressuring the opposing team to regain control of the ball. Get ready to dive into the heart of the action!  Intro to Kicking - Under 10's - Join us in this skills clinic as we explore three of the most commonly used kicks in rugby: the punt, drop, and grubber kick. Designed specifically for the Under 10 age group, we’ll look at the basics and then tailor our approach to challenge both the more experienced players and those who need additional support. Kicking is a crucial skill—it allows you to swiftly move the ball into open space, score points, and contest possession. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a beginner, this clinic is the perfect opportunity to enhance your kicking abilities. Come join us and give it a try!  Intro to Attack - Under 11's - Join our Specialised Attack Clinic to hone the fundamental skills necessary for enhancing your attacking game. Throughout these clinics, you’ll delve into decision-making, catch-and-pass techniques, forward momentum, effective support play, and dynamic changes in running lines. All our games and exercises are closely linked to the academy and senior player training sessions. Come be part of this exciting opportunity to elevate your attacking prowess!  If you have any questions please give us a call on 01604 751543 or email community@northamptonsaints.co.uk Our Rugby Camp Terms and Conditions can be found here: www.northamptonsaints.co.uk/campt&cs

Carry On: An Audience with Mark & Lard

Tue, Apr 28 at 6:30 PM
Epic Studios

Event Information

The 24th March 2004 saw the world heritage radio site of the ‘Mark and Lard Show’ come to an end with a resounding: ‘STOP…!’ Now fully twenty-two years later we can finally complete that catchphrase with an equally resounding: ‘…CARRY ON!’ Like the day Neil Armstrong stepped on to the moon (if you were born then, if not, skip this bit) or when Alan Bradley got run over by a Blackpool tram on Coronation Street (ditto) – everybody can remember where they were on that fateful day in Radio 1 history. Listening to the radio. Obviously. Now, following high level negotiations after a chance meeting between Fat Harry White and Scoff Cruddle at a Bedford Rascal Enthusiasts rally, Mark and Marc have been coaxed back to wrestle once again on the sheepskin rug of light entertainment. The ordeal will begin at 7.30 pm assuming everyone gets their act together. - Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s website page for the most up to date information. This event is for over 16‘s only, anyone under the age of 16 will not be permitted entry and will not receive a ticket refund. You may be asked to prove your age with a valid form of ID. Event Information

Turin Brakes are releasing brand-new studio album ‘Spacehopper’ in May 2025. Produced by Grammy-winning Guy Massey, Spacehopper is the band’s first new music in over three years and marks Turin Brakes’ 10th studio album. A big milestone for a band who released their debut album over 24 years ago - The Mercury Prize nominated The Optimist LP which catapulted them into the mainstream and achieved Gold status in the UK. The title track Spacehopper from the new album is available everywhere now. South London 4-piece Turin Brakes was founded by childhood friends Olly Knights and Gale Paridjanian and is today made up of Knights, Paridjanian, and long-term collaborators Rob Allum and Eddie Myer. They followed The Optimist with their most commercially successful album ‘Ether Song’ in 2003 which hit the Top 5 in the UK Official Album Charts. Arguably more sonically adventurous than their debut it features the Top 5 hit single ‘Pain Killer (Summer Rain)’. They are a band that understands the art of longevity and ‘Spacehopper’ promises to be a worthy edition to a rich and sonically diverse catalogue of albums. To date, Turin Brakes have racked up seven top 40 singles, six top 40 albums and over a million record sales worldwide. This is a rescheduled date, all tickets purchased for the previous Norwich date reamain valid for this reschuled date. Specific set times are only made available on the day of the event, please check the venue’s website page for the most up to date information. Nottingham Forest Museum & Stadium Tour

Mon, Apr 27 at 1:00 PM
TBA

Event Information

Explore the home of the two-time European Cup champions by visiting The World Famous City Ground! If you wish to book Gift Vouchers for the Museum & Stadium Tour, please scroll down below to the "Gift Vouchers" section for more information. The Nottingham Forest Museum and Stadium Tour experience offers an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look into the City Ground - the home of one of the oldest clubs in English football. All culminating in a visit to our brand-new museum celebrating the rich history of Nottingham Forest Football Club. You'll be met by one of our expert tour guides at the Club Megastore before embarking in a 90-minute experience which starts in our brand-new Media Lounge facility. Here, you'll have the opportunity to sit in the same seat Sean Dyche sits in during Premier League press conferences. You'll then learn all there is about the history of Nottingham Forest Football Club as you hear tales from the expert tour guide whilst walking down the Boardroom Corridor. After taking photos of these celebrated moments, imagine the roar of the crowd as you view the pitch for the first time during the tour, from the best seat in the house... the Director's Box, which offers panoramic views of the entire ground. You'll then walk in the footsteps of both manager and footballer, entering the City Ground through the Player's Entrance before exploring the Away team changing room, a room that has been occupied by celebrated players both past and present. Immerse yourself in the managers matchday routine as you visit Sean's matchday office, the same place where he talks tactics with his first-team coaching staff. And then finally, visiting the Home team changing room as you have your photo taken in your favourite players seat. As the Stadium Tour ends, walk out of the tunnel and experience the world-famous City Ground the same way the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White, Ola Aina and Murillo do on a matchday. There's then your chance to take a photo pitchside or sitting in the home dugout. Lastly, you'll finish the Stadium Tour by visiting the brand new, state-of-the-art Nottingham Forest Museum, where you'll see the Club's most prized possessions including our European Cup trophies, an original green jumper belonging to Brian Clough, and a collection of match worn shirts from many our most iconic fixtures.

The Museum allows you to experience the Club in a way like never before as you indulge yourself in a collection of the club’s relics that we have gathered through our formative years and as we conquered Europe. You'll also be able to see archive footage of our most famous moments and have your chance in picking our All-Time XI! Event Information

When Modern Nature toured their last album, 2023’sNo Fixed Point In Space, it became apparent to Jack Cooper–the band’s main creative force–that they were already pulling away from the free, open-ended approach theyhad spent five years workingtowards; almost as if the music had become so abstract and elasticated, it now hadto snap back towards something more structured. As they found themselves naturally locking into more fixedgrooves, he realised a new direction had been set. Their new album–The Heat Warps–is the triumphantmanifestation of where that new direction took them.

Event Information

As part of the 25 Years of Margate Soul Weekender year-long celebration, we present an intimate midweek moment with one of the most compelling soul voices of this generation. Truly life-enriching soul music is an indomitable force of nature. No matter what sub genre our current crop of musicologists may cite in the very near future to describe Jalen Ngonda’s riveting approach, he’s unequivocally a gifted songwriter and artist, blending classic and contemporary soul influences to create a sound that’s all his own.  Since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album "Come Around And Love Me " in 2023 he has swiftly followed it with a string brand new singles, (as well as collaborations with Gorillaz and Jordan Rakei), as an artist who writes songs every day, its a natural thing to keep fresh music coming out. Jalen has caught the attention of the likes of Jill Scott,Kehlani and Olivia Dean, as well as Elton John, who predicted that “he is going to be a huge star”.  He has appeared on The Graham Norton show, and Later with Jools as well as playing sold-out tours in the USA, UK Australia and Europe recently having completed recording sessions he is constantly working.... His live show captivates and enthrals the audience with the pure musicianship of Jalen and his band. Music that may instil a nostalgia for the golden era of soul but from a very special artist that is very much of his time, a real once in a generation experience. Get ready for the next chapter  Jalen: "New set, a few new songs, and some places I’ve never played before. Come along"

Simon Yates of Touching the Void: Pleasure and Pain

Wed, Apr 29 at 7:30 PM
Kendal Brewery Arts Centre

Event Information

Extended Theatre Seated Simon Yates of Touching the Void returns to Brewery Arts, Kendal, with his new talk ‘Pleasure and Pain’ due to phenomenal demand! ‘Touching the Void’ mountaineer Simon Yates is a veteran of over eighty expeditions to high and remote mountains around the globe. Now in his sixties, he is showing no signs of slowing down! This is his story of the last decade, of new adventures and climbs in the far north and south, along with summits in South America, Central Asia and the Himalayas. In 2023, Simon travelled with legendary British mountaineer Mick Fowler to attempt the unclimbed north face of Patkhor in Tajikistan. Their trip ran smoothly until the first evening on the mountain when they both contracted food poisoning from their freeze-dried food. After some debate, they continued, but this was just the beginning of a series of events that would see them run out of food, retreat below the summit in a storm, and Simon taking a bone-breaking 100m fall during the descent. After two days of lying on the glacier waiting for a helicopter, rescuers finally arrived but were unable to carry Simon down. Somehow, he would need to summon the energy for the painful three-day walk to safety.

Event Information

For over a decade, Road to Freedom has worked in conflict zones, at border sites and in refugee camps to support thousands of people forced to flee war, conflict, and genocide. This work—rooted in compassion, resilience, and hope—has only been possible because of the unwavering generosity of our supporters and the Road to Freedom community.  Over the past 10 years, we have been able to build the most incredible community of like-minded individuals, all with one shared goal - to support people in need across the world as they live and fight through injustices. We have met countless supporters, all who have donated their time, money, skill-set and their voice, working with us on this difficult journey towards freedom for all.  Now, we invite you to be part of the next chapter.  Join us for a powerful evening of documentary storytelling—an event that brings these journeys to life through real voices, lived experiences, and untold truths. This is more than a screening; it is a tribute to courage, a celebration of community, and a space to reflect on the impact we can create together. Event Information

"Vikki is one of this country's finest interpreters of Traditional and Contemporary song, having a very pure voice and formidable guitar technique". Gordon Giltrap " At heart I'm a folk rocker "  In the early 80'S the fun began. Invited to sing with Ragged Heroes , a cult Folk Rock band,. Vikki  thrived. "Id found my forte . I'd always kicked around with rock bands and played in folk clubs but here was a chance to combine my two favourite musical loves." "Ragged Heroes Annual" was released to much acclaim and notice was taken of Vikki's  lovely voice. They were invited to perform at one of the early Cropredy Festivals in 1984 and gigs started to  escalate. However the band drifted apart and eventually called it a day because " we were eight in number and our bar tab usually came to more than our fee"  Then somebody sent Fairport Convention a copy of Vikki's album "Lost Lady Found". At the same time Jerry Donahue heard Vikki sing and was moved to tears because she sounded so much  like Sandy Denny. What became of these two events was a long period of appearing with Fairport Convention, fronting the newly formed Fotheringhay  - amusingly known as "The Nerve"  and forming her own band  featuring stellar performers Clive Bunker, Fred T Baker and Chris Conway.   So six solo albums later and  many appearances on  other recordings Vikki is proud to release "Messenger" .
